Re: Southern Hemisphere Rugby Union Coverage

I re-iterate, this is a thread on southern hemisphere RU, NOT F1!

It just looks like after the Lions tour Sky aren't interested in any form of rugby. It'll be there loss as sure the likes of BT, Amazon or premier sports will eventually snap up the super rugby competition.

I very much doubt Amazon are remotely interested. They have very specialist interests, are not a mainstream sports broadcaster, and just have a few very specific rights holdings.

When the proper international season starts and the Sanzaar offer stops being a club-only thing, then the rights will be a different story.  All the northern-hemisphere rugby nations are touring the SH this year, I'll be utterly amazed (and thoroughly cheesed off) if those are online-only.

I don't like to reply to myself, but...

This article is worth a read for SH rugby fans in the UK.

Thanks.

I hope if Sky get it they will not just restrict it to Sky Glass as it will be a sreaming service. But that's marketing for you!

Re: Southern Hemisphere Rugby Union Coverage

Super Rugby's back on, I'd like to think it's because of this thread of complaints but I suspect not but it least it's back on so some pretty decent rugby

Respite from the aimless kickfest that UK / Prem RU has become.

@graceland22 I dont have access to English Union on BT Sport but am watching as much URC on Premier Sports as I can and really enjoying the mix of styles between the Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Italian and South African Union.

Re: Southern Hemisphere Rugby Union Coverage

Hello there,

I was delighted to see Sky have now returned to showing super rugby as part of a deal announced last week;

As part of this deal South Africa’s Currie Cup is to be shown live on sky, as detailed in the above link.  However Wednesdays Currie Cup (23/03) fixtures are not listed on the sky guide, at the time of writing Monday 21/03.

Instead across sky sports action, arena and mix in this time slot as just replays of boxing and netball. Please prioritise live action.

I have written to viewer enquires email, if anyone can address this matter from sky it will be appreciated. After all if you are going to but rights it may be worthwhile showing the matches rather than archive and replayed material.

Kind regards
