Re: Sort Recordings by Expiry Date

Hi @tarbat, I never realised you could download a file from the Sky Q box. How do you do that?

Substitute the IP address of your main Sky Q box in this URL

http://192.168.1.XXX:9006/as/pvr?limit=10000&offset=0

"exp" is the expiry date on each recording, in UNIX TIME.

Did you substitute the IP address for your Sky Q's IP address as instructed?

Assuming it still stands that Expiry does not show until 30 days prior this also would be impractical.

The JSON data available from the Sky Q box does provide all expiry dates. I currently can see dates up to December 2026. The challenge is getting sensible access to the JSON data. I use a spreadsheet once a week to check for expiry dates. If you have the JSON and Excel skills it is possible, just a shame Sky don't display the expiry dates for all users to see.

Hi @tarbat, that works really well. Do you have a list of definitions for the fields? Some are obvious, but there's a lot that I couldn't decipher.

Hi, I'm trying to list my Sky Q recordings by expiry date so that I can watch the ones which are due to expire soon before they are automatically removed. I can't find anyway to this other than to go through the "Most recent" recordings one by one to work out which ones have short expiry dates.  Can anyone help me with a way to find the recordings due to expire in the next two weeks quickly?

Thanks

David

Nice work @tarbat ! Thanks so much!

Pity we have to go to so much trouble to get info that the old HD box provided 😢

What's really annoying is that some series have pretty random expiry dates on episodes, so you can start watching a series and all of a sudden some (later!) episodes expire!

That sometimes happens with On Demand where you get differing epiry dates. But if you know when it's due to expire, you can make sure you've watched it before that happens.

I don't understand, if the raw data is there on our boxes, why Sky can't easily enable us to produce a list similar to @tarbat great work.

Why is it so 'secret squirrel' and why are Sky so reluctant to let us all easily see all the expiry dates

Maybe because Sky don't want to make the issue of content expiring too visible, as that could result in a negative view by customers.

Or use the PC version of Sky GO, which does display the expiry dates on your saved downloads and recordings:

Has always perplexed me, especially as it's always been available (and still is) on a Sky+HD box.
