Hi I've just gone on to the sky ultra broadband I've gone to test my speed with ookla speedtest I'm just outside manchester its saying my server is in Grantham lincs I did it again and it came from leicester none got above 8 I've got the hub on the floor where the bt engineer left it

Are you on g.fast ultrafast with a mastersocket or fttp with a larger ont modem? Are you testing on wifi or ethernet ?

That is not the ideal position for the router it should be central in the house and upon a shelf away from other wireless equipment like handset phones, metal objects, etc...
Can you move the wireless router to a better location or install a shelf and put it on that for better performance?
Also, when ultrafast broadband is installed it takes a day for the speeds to improve to full potential, eg: profile parameters need updating around the Sky systems so please check the speed tomorrow.

I'm testing it on my android phone and bt put me a new socket with cable plugged into it but it's only a short cable what I dont understand is when I test it its showing grantham

It's using IP geolocation and that isn't very accurate for locating you, and it will just locate you to the nearest 100 miles or so..., and is nothing to worry about. You should use GPS on the phone for location if that's important to you for say weather forecasts, etc...?
