I made the DNS change to 1.1.1.1.. I also made the same change to all mini box's and saved each and then powered down and unplugged power cable for 30+ sec's.
So far, so good all working ok (only been half a day). However, worth doing on all box's, if anyone hasn't done the same.

My last engineer (of many) told me about the issue on the umptenth visit to get my minibox to connect to the network automatically as I have to do it manually virtually every time I switch it on. (Oh, plus installing a new Q box as I had a technical error on that. That Q box had only been installed for about 6 months).
My minibox is connected to my BT Router (also fairly new) with a booster box in the mix too.
It still doesn't work...
Changing the DNS didn't work either.
I hava been given a concession regarding the issues with the minibox, but virtually everything I want to watch won't download!
What am I paying for?

Also having this problem, done a software update and a complete reset over the phone with Sky support ( so i lost everything) it then worked for a while but has since all stopped again. Strangely, items from ITV HUB are downloading fine, but nothing from the others, including the sky channels themselves. Absolute shambles!

@Elll1e Yep, it's not a great situation, and seems to vary widely as to what will fix the issue, but its worth following the instructions from @berniejn on page 59. It changes the DNS settings on your BT Router, assuming you are comfortable doing this, as it means you shouldn't need to change anything on the Sky box as the default network setting is to read from your Router.
If you are using the Sky Wi-Fi mesh to connect to your router, this still seems to be an issue for a number of people, so if you can cable connect to your router that's best, next best is to use Powerline sockets to extend your wired network via your electrical wiring.

I have experienced exactly the same issues as everyone else on this forum but thought I would ring Sky this afternoon hoping to be told that an imminent software update would solve the issue. Unfortunately the response I got left me open mouthed. The "technical expert" I spoke to told me he was unaware of the issue and the problem was likely to be with my hard drive and that the only solution would be to reset it losing all of my recordings. I simply could not get him to accept that hundreds of people are experiencing exactly the same issue and the problem is only with Sky downloads. I asked to speak to his manager and was told none was available. Appalling service.

Mine did seem to be working but the download is painfully slow (using TP-link). Taking an hour for an episode, and whilst some have downloaded, I've still had some 'network failed' errors and failures to download.

@TC349 Clearly you need to ignore that 'technical expert' and follow the details that were recently posted on this thread, as currently it seems to work.
im not really surprised with the response you got, what is surprising is the Sky lack of joined up service as this issue has been ongoing since at least the last week in November and they have had lots of calls!

Have followed all Skys problem solving guides and as per everyone else - not working. Trying to download Landsapes and Succession but to no avail. Do you think Sky actually read these posts?

@Norfolked There have been some Sky staff on this thread earlier on asking for details of the environments that customers are running, but I haven't seen anything recently.

Having kept up with this thread I contacted SkyHelp on Twitter last night - chased for a reply tonight. Mentioned the then '59 (and counting) pages' on this forum, in case they play the "we had no idea" card. The response was:
"Our teams are still working on resolving this. We currently have no ETA for this, however, as soon as it's resolved we'll keep our customers informed. Here is £10 compensation."
Ok, so I made the last bit up but at least this advisor has acknowledged the issue, albeit, with no end in sight. I'm in 'pending cancellation' stage at the moment with them - makes me less eager to chase them up for a better deal right now anyway.

Yep, this one they have seen & requested information from users (on the earlier pages).
The Community Managers flagged it quite early on; for some reason its taken a while for the support teams to action.
Sky is my ISP and I have the same issue.

That's really interesting that your ISP is also Sky, takes away any attempt to deflect blame onto BT etc....
