Re: Sky sports juddering

Do sky have any response to these issues? I've had a X2 new boxes and full rewiring and still have the same issues.....I have a Samsung 4k TV. Watching in uhd the picture becomes even worse.

Re: Sky sports juddering

Just came across this thread, searching for an answer to my issue.

I have the flagship Samsung Neo tv and, just like my previous tv, football looks awful irrespective of whether I turn motion on or off etc. The football itself ghosts all of the time.

im convinced that this is a Sky Q issue as when I watch the odd game that Prime broadcasts (accessed via the app on the tv and not Sky Q menu), it's perfect.

is it safe to say that Sky Q boxes are the issue and are ill equipped to cope with it?

No its not safe to say that.....I, and many others here that watch football, do not have this juddering/ghosting issue when watching a game.

If it was a Sky Q box issue, there would be thousands of complaints on this forum every weekend so it really has to be your TV settings or some isolated issue with your setup/system

Re: Sky sports juddering

Cheers Doc.

How strange!?! Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it soon.

Similar to my Samsung Neo, my LG does the same.

You could try swapping HDMI cables and swapping ports and if not, book a sky engineer who may replace the box....but my guess is its something on your TV settings

Have you tried the AV forums, which are a Good source of TV setting info ?.

Re: Sky sports juddering

I have the same issue with 4 tvs in our house. Sports look terrible with juddering on all of them. LG, samsung and Jvc . All 3 brands look the same with different hdmi cables and inputs.

cockley

out of interest, is it running through Sky Q and is it any different if you watch it on another source?

Re: Sky sports juddering

I have posted about this before. If I watch England games through bbc iplayer or itv hub direct through the smart tv, the picture is fine. I have a similar issue with some movies through netflix etc. Juddering on panning scenes through sky Q but not directly through tv app. Tried different leads and inputs, makes no difference.

This is a well known issue due to Q insisting on have a fixed video mode regardless of the source material.  The judder reduction option will force the TV (in apps such as NetFlix) to 60Hz instead of 50Hz and resolves it for the relevant material.

The in TV app (which should always be used wherever possible as it will always be better than Q) is not constrained by a fixed video mode.

The Q provides a high level of compatibility but not the best quality.  But you'd be surprised the people that don't even notice (or care) about the judder!  My Wife can't see the difference between SD and UHD!

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Re: Sky sports juddering

I seem to have sorted the judder issue on my LG tv. Firstly I have switched the q box resolution back to 1080i from 2160p. This has now enabled me to turn on real cinema and turn off true motion on my TV.

The tv also seems to do a better job than the q box at upscaling the picture. The only issue is that I have to change back to 2160p to watch any uhd programs.
