Sky protect messed up my plans
I have had sky protect for a good few years now,I had 2 tvs on my policy a 42 inch and 55 inch I had to send my 55 inch in to be repaired, then I got a call from the engineer to say they can't work on it as its the wrong tv ,now last year I rang sky Protect to remove my 42 inch as no longer had it, so this morning rang sky protect to see what was going on they told me they have 2 42 inch TV on my policy not a 55 in of course I was angry as I have been paying for thus every month ,so I had to ask to talk to someone higher up as they made me feel kike a lier so higher up looked at my policy and seen 2 42inch tvs on my policy when infact there should now only be one ,the 55 in so recordings of the call I made the time of insuring my 55in will have to be found and was told an investigation will be opened and will hear in a couple of days what is happening, I feel so let down its not I can just go out and buy a new one that's why I insured the tv in the first place ,I'm not holding out much hope I'm currently without a tv now ,anyway if they find the recordings of the call they will see I in sure the 55 inch tv it feels like I'm being called a leir the way I have been made to feel .it feels like it's going to be a losing battle ?.

Re: Sky protect messed up my plans
Sky Protect is the brand name of a Domestic & General insurance product: they licence trademarks from Sky, and Sky provide them with leads as an 'introducer appointed representative'. It's D&G you need to complain to, and ultimately the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.
Domestic & General Insurance PLC is an insurance undertaking, not an intermediary. We are the underwriter of the insurance and do not provide a personal recommendation. Domestic & General Services Limited is an appointed representative of Domestic & General Insurance PLC, which is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. Sky UK Limited is an introducer appointed representative of Domestic & General Insurance PLC, which is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.

Re: Sky protect messed up my plans
Sky protect is a complete joke, they sold the policy to me saying they would replace if items were broken.
Son broke our TV by accident, thought I would save on insurance to get it repaired, they informed me that couldn't be repaired so asked them to get rid of TV as I new it could not be repaired.
Called Sky Protect and they said they can't replace TV now.
So now I'm left without a TV.
They sold me the policy as like for like replacement, I have never claimed on any insurance and first time they say they can't help.
What a complete waist of my money and over 30years with Sky.

I assume you asked them why not. What did they say? I don't see how D & G can unilaterally change the terms of your policy with them.

Re: Sky protect messed up my plans
Afternoon Mark I informed them that I tried to get it repaired, they then said we need the old TV which I explained it was damaged and unrepairable.
They then said there is nothing we can do.
So I cancelled the policy as there is no point to it.

I suspect you voided the terms of your insurance, I'm afraid, by getting rid of the tv before first getting D & G's approval.
As we all know, insurers won't pay out if they can avoid it.

Re: Sky protect messed up my plans
Update on my sky protect policy, after sky protect listend back to my phone conversion the time I was insuring my 55inch TV, they were able to confirm that I was right I had twice on the phone told the advisor that the TV I was insuring was a 55inch and not a 42inch, so I have received an apology over the phone and by letter ,so alls good and the TV is getting repaired, I'm glad it's all sorted more than happy with how quick they were in dealing with my situation.
