Sky Q subtitles

So I now see there is an off or English option on sky Q. Our default is subtitles on and I turn them of in the help option when watching sports, however if I rewind to watch an incident it goes back to the default which is annoying.

I'll just have to put up with the inconvenience. Bit irritating, like the lack of Subtitles on UHD films.

Hi @Tomthecatty   I also use a Harmony Elite. I have created two sequences to turn Subtitles On or Off with a simple single button press. Not the default but using the "?" sequence so a temporary change. Quick and easy.

Re: Sky Q subtitles

Unfortunately Sky don't seem to have thought this through or tested it with real users.

Just hope they change this in a future update. Not holding my breath though.

Hi @toffeeman2012   Say "Subtitles Off" as a voice command for the duration of your sporting event. "Subtitles On" when it is finished. Note I have just tried live pause (Ned v Cze) and my subtitles stick on the "?" button. Changes to default on channel change as expected.

Re: Sky Q subtitles

Yep thanks it worked in the voice command but not using the help option which is odd. At least we have partly solved it. There should be a user preference for people so they can choose rather than me having to turn them off all the time just for my partner to keep turing them back on.

Re: Sky Q subtitles

@MightyQuinn I've also done that with my Harmony but doesn't alter the fact that I have now to press it after every sports rewind or pause.

I like the fact subtitles come back on when I change channel but don't really understand why Sky thought it was a good idea when rewinding or pausing.

Re: Sky Q subtitles

It does not give me the option of turning off/on subtitles it now shows "English" where on/off options used to be !

I'm stuck with subtitles ON all the time. I could use the voice opion to turn off but since my house was rewired yesterday I can't connect to broadband now to do this. My network details are listed when I go into settings but I seem to be putting wrong password in so can't connect. I'm stuck and don't know what to do now so I have a double problem.

Re: Sky Q subtitles

@ladybob - If you go to Settings > Accessibility > Subtitles and make sure they are set to off

I had your problem until I checked and turned subtitles off.

I can always turn subtitles on again either by voice control or selecting English by using the ? Key.

The Germans (of course) have a loooooooooong word for the situation where by solving a small problem, it causes a bigger one.
