Sky Q mini set up connection issues

I have just received a sky Q mini box for us to set up upstairs. I have tried connecting it on step 2 to our main Sky Q box which is in the living room downstairs but it keeps saying unsuccessful connection. Is there anything we can do to fix this or do we need Sky Q booster? Also how do we obtain a Sky Q booster and are they free? Thanks

Hi @Jess25

Any chance you can try temporarily moving it closer to the main Q box to set it up .

Assume this has a spare HDMI input @Jess25

Then yes try that.

Hi @Jess25

Assuming you get it connected near the main Q box when you move it to its proper location,  reboot the main Q box and wait until this is back up and fully running before you power on the mini.

To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)

note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Re: Sky Q mini set up connection issues

Hi @oldfella, I have connected it to the main TV and tried connecting it next to the Sky Q main box but it is still saying unsucessful connection. Is there anything else I can do or do I need to get someone to come out and have a look at it?

Hi @Jess25

Are you carrying out Network Reset on the mini?

Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect to main Q box by pressing the WPS button on the main box (not the mini)
