Sky Q mini player annoying

Why have Sky decided to not let users customise the Sky Q box the same way we could with the Sky+ HD box? You can't disable the mini player, meaning that whenever you finish watching a recording and go back to the recorded planner you get the sound of whatever TV channel you were watching live. This is very annoying and meNs you have to either listen to a live channel or constantly pressmute. Also, you can no longer disable the spinning blue light, which serves no actual purpose at all - you know when you're watching a recorded program so why do we need the constant reminder? It seems to me that the Sky Q box is all design with no thought to the actual customers.

I think there are probably several factors. 

I think there is an element of 'SKY know best'

I also suspect that the designers & developers come from a more mobile & tablet using background and also don't fully understand the very wide demographic that use SKY.

SKY Q is much more feature rich than SKY +/HD & I think that SKY have a deliberate policy of allowing very minimal customisation to reduce the risk of problems with any upgrades

One factor that definitely is more to the forefront in design is the fact SKY Q is used to 'push' content that SKY & their partners want us to see 

I am not sure what trials & feedback & from what range of demogphic groups that they use - one thing is clear SKY Q definitely comes as a shock to many SKY +/HD users & some design does make us wonder.

After 5 years I am used to it but there are still things I wonder why they are done that way or why they haven't been improved - for examplewhy not use the coloured buttons more or why on earth  SKY Cinema - All,  is just one ultra massive scroll list with no sub division by Letter or anything - it is just unusable

I think Sky are just trying to compete with Netflix, and have designed the program options to match, especially the films, even having a new top ten selection, just like Netflix. What the don't realise is that we don't want or need it to look and act like Netflix - we just want to be able to be in control of what we choose. They expect you to use the search feature to find films or programs, but that doesn't help if you just want to browse.
