For the last week the sound on our Sky Q box keeps dropping out. It's not all the time, and there's no pattern or seemingly any reason, we haven't changed any settings or unplugged anything.
I've seen lots of threads for this issue, some of which seem to have disappeared down the rabbit hole and lots of suggestions, but:-
Are Sky aware of this problem and do they have a solution?
Thanks
Michelle

Qi elephant in the room sign held aloft
NOBODY KNOOOOWS
as even though they have or had, more staff on the forum lately, not one single post that I've seen has made any suggestion that sky;
give a fig about it
have any idea what's the cause
know how to fix it as a result
or will tell us a single thing about it in any way
q smart **bleep** response from Rhonny probably 😆
anyone?
one has to wonder what's the point in having a Forum of your own if your just going (to reward pet members for shouting down awkward posters) to ignore your own customers

@Not+better There is a large thread here all about the sound problems which Sky have commented on and acknowledged the problems

Thanks @Laing1
So the answer to my original question is that yes Sky are aware that there is a problem but as yet no simple fix or update to solve the problem.
Our box froze last night so we had to disconnect the power and reset it, watching the cricket this morning I've not had any sound dropouts so will wait and see if the problem recurs!
thanks everyone

Sigh, I knew it was too good to be true! The sound still drops out occasionally, with no rhyme or reason, some days it hardly happens and then watching a program the sound drops out three or four times. It's annoying!!

No need to post you're having the same problem, Sky knows it's an issue and is working on the next software update to fix it.

This is getting me so so angry I'm seriously thinking of leaving SKY altogether. I've tried every possible solution they have offered me but no!!!!!! Still dropping out. Even, stupidly, purchased an expensive sound bar. Made me look stupid eh!!! Totally Flummoxed

The ONLY potential solution is with the Q160 software update that Sky has been promising us all for a good few months now.
We have no idea when it will arrive - it's allegedly in the final stages of testing at the moment so it could be next week, or it could be next month or it could be next Christmas, or it could be never.
All you can do is wait or call them and cancel your contract immediately without any early exit fees. They have been allowing peope to do this for the past few months.

Were on a V2 box and have had intermittent sound dropouts for the 18 months since the box was installed but only on SD channels, is this being addressed by the Q160 Update?

Hi everyone, I too have been suffering with this outstanding issue for some time now & have been keeping my eyes open for any solution Sky may come up with. One thing that I have noticed is that the sound dropouts also occur when I turn on the Microwave, or for that matter any socket in our kitchen. It's also happening whenever our central heating comes on. Which is more frequent now due to the Weather. So would any technical person know whether it's some sort of 2.4ghz/5ghz issue? For interest our central heating is connected to a Nest Control also connected to our Internet. Hope Sky can resolve this soon as I'm pulling out what hair I have left 😤
