I've just tried switching WiFi off completely on all the boxes to see if that makes a difference.
I have wifi switched off on the mini, just 5ghz on the main box. All working perfectly.

For the guys having trouble with 5ghz, might be worth trying a different channel.
Ours is on the same channel as our neighbours (see screenshot) although they don't seem to be clashing but it could potentially be an issue for other folk.
A blog I read said that changing from 80Mhz to 40Mhz can also fix it.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreTurning off 5Ghz if Sky is your ISP may work however if Sky is not your ISP then you need it on for the boxes to link if you have any mini boxes.

My previous post about changing channel seems to have been removed, no idea why ??!!

Another thing to try is switching from 80Mhz to 40Mhz.

This set up has worked for me so far, fingers crossed it stays for me. I would definitely recommend trying this👌🏼

Good stuff.
So are you now on 5ghz only at the main box and cable to the mini ?
My main box lost it's connection to the hub so I switched the 5ghz from 80Mhz to 40Mhz and (touch wood) it's been 100% for over a week now.

yes this works check the channel of your WiFi probably 36 and change the channel on your sky set up to 40 and it all works. Switch off 2.4 g on your sky box and any mini a boxes and all
works

Just to be clear, I was talking about switching the Mhz from 80 to 40 but sure, switching the channel might work for some too. Basically, whatever stops the interferance with the 5ghz signal.

Cable to main and then 5g on both main and mini and 40ghz on main and 2.4 switched off on both

Good to hear that setup works too. 👍
I would guess the 5ghz will override the ethernet on the main box though as you would need to disable 2.4ghz and 5ghz to allow a wired connection ??
If so, your main box is connected by 5ghz and the cable is effectively doing nothing, although that shows that a reliable wireless connection can still be achieved.

@Nkel Appreciate this is a few weeks old now but when you say that you 'upgraded' what exactly did you upgrade befor you started having the mini connectivity issues.?

Been having troubles with sky q since it was installed wish I had never agreed to having it. Lots of sky employees on here giving advice to no effect. Do they actually report back to management the bad reports people are giving

I had my upgrade to sky q today worse decision of my life, Q box works fine, mini box one has pictures no sound, mini box 2 "loses connection" every 40 minutes (yes i timed it) second call back to sky tomorrow to cancel this and reinstall my sky plus boxes

Hi, have you tried the workarounds mentioned in previous posts ?
I had the same problem with the mini losing connection for months but since changing the 5ghz channel width on both boxes to 40Mhz/ch 36, I haven't had a single disconnect in a couple of months. Also switched off 2.4Ghz.
The mini has been working 100% ever since.

Yep was installed on 5ghz and 2.4ghz is off, internet is fine as i switched to my firestick to watch Netflix and had no interruption, even when going down each time to check the main box all 4 ticks were there and when i go back up to the mini box the connection would come back but only for 40 mins.
