Sky Q- Wholehome issues

Hi Guys, looking for some help with connectivity issues between my Q and broadband.

I use BT broadband and keep having internet drop out to my mini-hubs, I also suspect it knocking out all my wifi.

I have a home hub with by wholehome discs connected. I also have an old by router in my garage that's hardwired as a slave to my main router. From this slave my main 2tb sky box is hard wired. When I reset the skyboxs internet it offers wireless connect to the wholehome or hardwired to the slave( comes up as SKY connection).I then connect the other mini boxes via the box( I assume it creates it's own mini network).

However for some reason the main box flips to my wholehome and so do the minis and then I lose connection to the minis on a regular basis.

Should I remove the ethernet connection to my main box and run the whole system through the wholehome or should I turn of wifi on all the minis and connect through the ethernet sites main box?

Or none of the above?

Thanks

@johnmack23Whole home discs are intended to effectively replace your original router so one disc should be plugged into the router and the WiFi turned off in the router.

Having another router complicates things as the mini boxes have to use their own mesh on 5Ghz Ch36 to link to the main box and so needs to be in range of either the main box or mini box. The main box connects to your router (or if set up correctly the main white disc) on 2.4Ghz using your home WiFi.

Re: Sky Q- Wholehome issues

Thanks for the info. I've turned of the main router wifi so only the wholehome is available. Tbh I've never had an issue with it switching to the main router, just between the sky mesh and wholehome.

My mini discs are spread over 3 floors in an 1880s built house so the 5ghz mesh may not be connecting properly? For some reason after I connect my main box to ethernet it always changes over to the wireless wholehome connection. I've read about turning wifi off in the skybox but it seems to turn back on itself??

I do have some powerline plugs I could try as well?

Thanks

Yup, exactly what I've done.   WiFi disabled on all Sky Q boxes and all connected to a disc via Ethernet.

Re: Sky Q- Wholehome issues

The secondary slave router I have in my garage(which gives the ethernet back to my main skybox) doesn't show at all in the house for wireless connectivity so I don't think it'll be interfering with anything.

Re: Sky Q- Wholehome issues

This would be ideal, but it's not possible for me as I have to have the whole hubs in my hallways on each level or the signal becomes to weak, should I turn off the wifi on all boxes and connect via powerline? Will it make a difference that the ethernet to the main box comes from a slave router?

As long as they are ethernet connected on the same subnet then it should work.  Connecting via WiFi was unstable for me - it would connect and work for about 1 minute.

I've seen reports of WiFi re-enabling itself but not seen that myself.
