Sky Q Remote
Since yesterday I have a very annoying issue. When I googled this problem, it seems I am not alone.
My Sky Q box and television are both working fine. However, since yesterday the volume and voice control no longer work on my television using my Sky Q remote. I have to use my television remote to adjust the volume.which is very annoying
I have tried the usual thing, pressing 7 and 9 simultaneously and then 1 and 3 simultaneously, but still no good. Keeps saying unsuccessful set up and try again.
I went into Set Up and went through the process of putting in make of tv etc and still no good.
I have two Sky Q remotes, the older version with no voice control and
the newer one with voice control. They both since yesterday do not work re adjusting the volume on my television,
I have also noticed as from yesterday, I can also not put my television into stand by mode using the Sky Q remotes and I now have to use my television remote to put my television into stand by.
.Hower both Sky Q remotes do everything else as normal and other than this my television and Sky Q remotes seem to be working as normal
Any ideas anyone. I suppose it is possible that both Sky Q remotes are faulty but that would seem unlikely.

One step at a time.
If Voice control is not working it means that the Bluetooth remote is not correctly paired to the Q box.
Try new batteries and just press 1 & 3 together making sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box.

I have put in new batteries and pressed 1 and 3. The red light flashes. The message, Wait a minute comes up. Then says failed and retry.
I have requested a Sky engineer to come out. All very strange

Try rebooting the Q box @middlesex1993
And then try pairing the remote again.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)
note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Thank you for your replies.
I should have said, I have also tried rebooting Sky Q box, as you have suggested, but that made no difference.
My initial reaction was that my Sky Q remote was faulty, but would both Sky Q remotes be faulty? I hope it is not the Sky Q box, which they have to replace as I have so many recordings I have yet to see.
I have requested a Sky engineer to come out.
As I say other than this, the Sky Q box and my television are working as normal
All very strange.

Does anyone else have any ideas?
I have tried about six times to re set my Sky Q remote but can not do so.. I have also twice rebooted my Sky Q box but that has not helped.
My Sky Q box and television appear to be otherwise working normally.
The two things I now can NOT do is
1) Adjust the volume on my television using my Sky Q remote.
2) Put my television into stand by using my Sky Q remote.
In relation to both of the above I now have to use my television remote to do this.

As it's clear that the remotes are not paired @middlesex1993 all you can do is try periodically pairing them .
Try again in settings.
The infrared remote (non Bluetooth) does not pair to the Q box only the TV
The Bluetooth remote (with voice control) pairs to the box when first pressing 1 & 3 before it goes to the TV Settings.
As the 1&3 pairing is by infrared make sure you point the remote at the Q box

@middlesex1993 If you still need a working remote, you can download an app for iOS or Android. I do not know the name of the Android app, but the iOS app is called Sky Remote.

Sadly I am not technically minded.
All I know is my Sky Q remotes are not since yesterday working properly.
Just wondering whether anyone else on this site have experienced similar issues.
Hopefully this is not a sign my Sky Q box is about to pack in.

You don't have to be technically minded to install the Sky Remote app on iOS. It's not difficult to use. I cannot speak for the Android app.

I think I will wait for an engineer to come out before downloading apps.
I have just tried again for about the fiftieth time to do a Remote Control Set Up.
Up comes the dreaded message 'Please Wait'. Then two or three minutes later the even more dreaded message. 'Set Up Unsuccessful'
I think I shall now stop trying to do this test, as otherwise I may be looking for a new television screen.
Hopefully someone on this site has had similar issues to me.

How are you watching TV with Sky without a woring remote? If it was me, I'd just download the app and use that to control the box.

I have a wireless set up.
My Sky tv settings show my network connection and set up is good.
I also have done a smart hub test on my television and all is good and connected

I can still use my Sky Q remote as normal. .For instance, I can change channels, pause and rewind, record programmes etc and go into settings.
However I can not use the Sky Q remote
1) Voice control which I liked to use and it no longer works
2) To increase or decrease the volume. I have to use my tv remote for that
3 I can no longer turn my Sky Q box on and off or put on standby using my Sky Q remote. I now have to use my tv remote for that.
All was working fine until this weekend.
The engineer will come with a new Sky Q remote but I feel it may be more complicated than that
