My older Q system and 3 minis (2 wired) have become pretty much unusable since the 170 update. Dropouts, lockups, can't find the main box etc etc every 1-3 hours. I've had Q since day 1 and it's never ever been as bad as this. 

 

Re-boots fix nothing. Spent 80 mins on the phone to sky doing a full re-install and many tests and resets.  Lasted a day before repeatedly failing again. 

 

New main Q box dispatched and will be here tomorrow.

Has anyone else had a problem with download speeds since the update?

 

What I mean is before the update, I could download a film in UHD HDR and be ready to watch within 2-3 minutes.  Now, whatever I download, isn't available to watch for about 45 minutes.

 

My set up is exactly the same as it was before the update.

just clicked on a random film in Sky Cinema. It was available to watch in 20 seconds and 50% of the film had downloaded in a couple of minutes and the entire film in about 5-6 mins.

@digglerthelegendNo change until I enabled hot spots when it slowed everything down, I do not have Sky as my ISP.

Virgin is my ISP. Hotspots are off.

Is Q17 on the DR stream yet? None of my (5) boxes have updated yet and a forced update still shows Q16.  Many thanks.

@Garry+RedknapIf your box is V1 these have rolled back to Q160, so that may be the reason you can't update as Sky will not want people to try to upgrade to Q170 if they have a V1 box.

It is a case of just waiting.

Exact same thing here. We switched to a new Orbi system mid / end of august and was fine for a few weeks .

utterly awful now and wondering if it's actually this as cannot sort a solid connection. 
all my boxes are connected on Ethernet now and Wi-Fi is turned off all the sky boxes so don't know how it's this bad.

I think you'll still have problems with your mini boxes even if they're  connected by ethernet

It is a case of just waiting.

 

I've just re-run the update on the 4 mini's and they are all now Q17.  But the Main V3-2TB box says downloading, and then never gets to the reboot for the new version part. It just goes straight back to the press to update.

 

UPDATE- Stopped all recordings and tried again. Now V3 is at Q17. Happy days....maybe.

Mine has rolled back overnight from Q17 to Q16 - box 32B064.

 

Ironically, I had noticed an annoying audio problem where quiet voice was dalek-like/garbled.  (Sounding 'over compressed')

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Is it me, or do the colours seem brighter now?

 

I used a calibrator a few years ago and didn't seem to be this bright!

 

Maybe it's me, how can the Sky box affect the colours on the TV?!

@oxfordmark  I also updated overnight and you could be right, the homepages in menu seem brighter/more vivid
