Hello, I,m upgrading from Superfast to Ultrafast Broadband. The enginneer is comming tomorrow.

However, I have recieved a new Hub in the post the other day.

The hub will connect to your existing broadband via dsl cable. When ultrafast fttp is installed it will connect via ethernet from the ont to lan (wan) port 4. The intention is you install yourself but it is up to yourself whether you use it now

@Hobbayne64Is the new router different to the router you have just now from Sky?

If someone has helped give them Like.

Sky Ultrafast 1 might also be delivered from a G.fast master socket (but not Ultrafast 2). Ultrafast over G.fast is still being provisioned to addresses in areas with existing G.fast infrastructure* ( about 2.8 million of them ) it's just that no new areas are now going to get a G.fast street hardware distribution rollout.

*although interestingly Zen have ceased to resell G.fast entirely

Openreach isn't installing any new G.fast street infrastructure and it's now seen as a dead-end technology which was already being scaled back before the pandemic hit. Ultrafast over G.fast is still being resold by ISPs to addresses within reach of existing G.fast pods: I don't recall seeing any announcement that Sky have ceased.  Confusion arises where subscribers in G.fast areas want better than Ultrafast 1, though, as that's not possible over copper (or rather it is, but only on short distances and so it isn't offered).
