Re: Sky HDR

@Lp12man

There are no repair costs for a Sky Q box as a result of it being a loan.

The furore on here has been because people want their boxes swapping out for an HDR-enabled one. Can you imagine the furore if people had bought their boxes and weren't entitled to a replacement??!

Or if they bought their mini and Sky brings in a UHD-enabled box??

Surely your suggestion of a purchase route is nonsense.

Re: Sky HDR

Lease is where you use something where you don't take title but pay a use fee.

there is consideration.

@Rhonny  Is that film any good? I'm a keen student of history so tend to pick holes in programmes if they are not factually accurate which tends to get me in trouble with Mrs Piesarus. 😳

Re: Sky HDR

@da1e7150 Not sure how your 'rubbing it in my face' mate, but if you want to play that game, I worked for Sky for circa 9 years and had the full multiroom package totally free for the majority of that time, plus previewed new channels and programmes before the public did plus had to test some equipment too.. and I appreciate how you apparently think you know the package I'm in now and pay for, but you don't, your ego is unfounded here I'm afraid.

As for box manufacture, that's not an excuse,, because China are still manufacturing electronics, Microsoft and Sony are both introducing new games consoles globally this year and both have stated they won't have any delays in there launches due to the virus, Apple also is still happily providing ts stock to customers as are all other computer manufactures, all made in China.
So I don't buy that excuse anymore, and even if it was a factor then again it highlights poor management as they should have elected to wait before they had sufficient stock of new boxes to repacked the older models before launch. Or it shows Sky are incapable of having an efficient resilient supply chain like other companies can.

In return for a periodic payment. The up-front fee doesn't qualify this as a lease.

And in any case, this is so pointless. Your box is LOANED TO YOU - exactly as the contract. There is no point trying to convey otherwise.

Re: Sky HDR

If sky choose not to charge for repairs or stated in agreement conditions where not chargeable that is in their T&C. I think if I decided to kick it across the room because of no hdr I would be liable for repair.

loan basically refers to customer not taking title.

perhaps a lawyer can express it nor elegantly more than me.

Re: Sky HDR

It will be interesting to see how quickly Sky sets up this replacement program. But it doesn't seem like they are in a rush.

Re: Sky HDR

Out of interest how many hours of programming can a 1TB box store of hdr? I feel 2TB of storage will be needed for storage space to be practical as an example the film yesterday may use 3.7gb in HD where 1.1 gb for SD so what would it use for hdr out of interest

Re: Sky HDR

@da1e7150- of course my photos are too big to post 😞

OK, settings on my 55C9 (please note I use HDMI2 only on the TV as I use a Yamaha RX-A880 for sound via eARC where appropriate).

Picture > Additional Settings > HDMI Ultra HD Deep Colour: On for HDMI2

Picture > Picture Mode Settings > technicolor Expert

Picture > Picture Mode Settings > AI Picture > Off

Anything else you need to know specifically?

@Lp12man exactly so show me on your bill where you are paying a lease fee for the boxes. Oh wait you can't as you aren't leasing or renting the boxes.

And don't say its included in your package fee as if you take exactly the same package in a Sky HD box as a Sky Q box you pay the same amount

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Sky Q 2 TB (Silver)Box, 2 Mini boxes since June 2016, all connected by wifi
Sky Broadband Hub/SR203, Sky Ultrafast broadband
Ultimate on Demand, Q Experience/UHD, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema
