Re: Sky HDR

@da1e7150-  dunno if these help? I've got the 1TB box from a new install earlier this year and HDMI2.1 compatible HDMI cables. Setup is Sky Q thru Yamaha RX-A880 to LG 55C9.

Re: Sky HDR

@bob1234

@TheDeathOfRats Another anomollay is that if the box breaks down after the first year, Sky expect the customer to pay to get it repaired - why is that - if the box belongs to Sky and it has failed through normal use, why should the customer be responsible for repairing Sky's assets.

No no unlike +HD the maintenance cost is in the subscription and Sky will repair/replace free if needed.

The grey area is the dish and cabling which Sky say belongs to us and is guaranteed for 12 months however Sky do not seem to charge to fix faults on either.

Thanks for that info, that's good to know.  That isn't what I was told by the salesman and at the time made me decide not to buy another mini.

Before you say I was 'biting my nose off' it was a casual purchase that I wasn't really sure I needed, but I would have 'bought' had he replied as you did.  It is often the case that sales and support staff are sometimes ill-informed, things that I have heard of said over the last few days include

"all 2TB boxes can reveive HDR" (not true)

"the V1 boxes will be able to receive HDR after a software patch" (this might be true but I don't think so)

"what is HDR, there is no feature called HDR" (not true)

"faulty boxes are always replaced on a like for like basis with the same version" (not true)

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: Sky HDR

I got HLG from my v1 box just needed a third part device to tell tv it was HLG. So you can solve but you have to buy something. Alternatively get box swapped and lose recordings!

Re: Sky HDR

Faciniting!! I have just checked on the internet, the HDfury seems to be able to do this, but not much information given as to how.

There is some software that comes with the box (?) where you can 'add' the signal that the original V1 cannot control to tell the TV (LG C7 OLED that is HLG compatable) that this signal IS HDR? Am i correct?

I guess you know this works because you see the TV show HDR signal?

Any help appreciated. the £130 ish price compared to what Sky may cahrgae and the rest of th setup seems acceptable.

@Lp12man  If you mean "Fury" it is just telling you what you want to see it will not make an original 1TB box give HDR.

Re: Sky HDR

@TheDeathOfRats  I've had support staff who've never heard of HDR too. It's pathetic...

Re: Sky HDR

@rozel @tarbat  if any one wants to try with a v1 box that needs a hdfury linker I have that and the goblue dongle. I purchased it in my LG C7 days to overide the dim game mode. I'm more than happy to post mine out it's just sat in a box upstairs now anyway

Re: Sky HDR

Used old hdfury linker

gave me these.

now you need to copy some code into the configuration program. Which I was given but there is a server where you can generate with so many bits etc.

hdfury not cheap though although available on ebay. My unit from 2017.
