Re: Sky HDR

My box doesn't support hdr as I'm a very early adopter of sky q, however the picture quality on the lemur island is outstanding despite the lack of hdr support on my box. I will request a new box though as if its this good in sdr it should look amazing in hdr.

@Xmpnx

They're not changing boxes on request yet.

Re: Sky HDR hardware version 32B063

It's not the fact that we have to wait for the upgrade process, it's when that process is likely to begin or is to be completed by & at what cost, totally free per customer / upgrade cost / delivery charges only etc.

The choice of words used by sky staff is as vague as any political party can muster theses days, but it is the words that sky are omitting that shouts the loudest.

Tom...

Sky want us to believe in better
BELIEVE =accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.
BETTER = of a higher standard, or more suitable, pleasing, or effective than other things or people:

Sky Q & 2 mini’s
SR203 router. > Replaced with ASUS XT9’s with a TP-Link TD-W9970 modem
Sky superfast 80/20 :sort of, 63-75/15. Devolo 1200 wifi > Replaced with cat 6
Sony KDAF8 65 oled.

Re: Sky HDR

If I press the picture menu it actually says HDMI1    HDR

Sony Bravia 55FX8796.

By pressing VIVID the picture becomes slightly brighter. But its definitely still HDR.

Re: Sky HDR

TBH unless I'm missing something, although my C9 supports HDR and I have downloaded the Lemur programme (I have a UHD subscription and a compatible Q box) the picture quality looks little different to a HD broadcast. It certainly isn't in Dolby Vision league. Anyone? Do I need to alter any settings on the Q box.

@TomThumb5ive

They will not charge and I am prepared to eat this post if I'm wrong. Charging for the new box would be wrong on every level.

But for the sake of all that's holy, let's stop pre-empting what might happen.

Re: Sky HDR

Anyone know what box's sky are currently issuing. I've had a problem with my v1 2tb and got a replacement coming today. So wondered if I'd get a v3

Re: Sky HDR

I'm on no rush at all mate. I'll wait until there's some clarification on that they plan to donor offer those of us with boxes that don't support hdr.

Re: Sky HDR

@Piesarus

Have you got HDMI ULTRA HD DEEP COLOR turned on for the HDMI input the Sky box is connected to?

Normally, they swap like for like, so you'd probably get a v1. But it depends on what the engineer has on the van and whether the specific fault is related to the box type (eg V2 boxes have issues with a few LG TVs).

Re: Sky HDR

It's coming via currier as oppose to engineer. Box was crashing getting warm and making increase noise like the hdd was going

Re: Sky HDR

Absolutely, I wouldn't be able to watch DV from Netflix and Apple or HDR from Prime if it wasn't. It may be HDR but there is no notification in top right of screen nor is the PQ much different (if at all) to HD.

By the way I thought that V2 problem switch to v1 was for some Samsung TVs and probems with the One connect box Perhaps I read or thought wrong.
