Hi

I hope we're all well,

Quick question , I have downloaded  Gangs of lemur island and as soon as I watch it my tv switch's to HLG HDR., but when I watch it in real time on ch 130 it doesn't switch to HLG HDR .

@Tom+Shinkwin that's because Sky dont broadcasting in UHD so you need to download the UHD version there are only 3 programmes so far in HLG HDR

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Re: Sky HDR

Hi @Super+Anthony   Unfortunately I have a ES140 (V1) box so no Sky HDR for me 😂

Re: Sky HDR

@Super+Anthony  That should work. Same box as mine. Go to your HLG settings in your tv. If they're grey'd out try altering your picture format. Mine were grey'd out until I switched from Dynamic to Standard. My Samsung Q90 also didn't give me the HLG message, apparently some don't

Re: Sky HDR

@bob1234  I have that option on my q box, I'm using 10 bit, but that's just for 4K no? My telly doesn't do HDR, came out in 2015. Quite happy with the quality. Not sure what HDR would do to it.

Panasonic 50cx700 sky q 2tb, keep the 3d films, I am still watching those

Re: Sky HDR

@bob1234 My Sony says I do have HDR.

Can you confirm what you see under settings the following from earlier please

1. Audio Visual Picture resolution - my highest one is 2160p 10-bit

2. Under preferences, On Demand shows UHD

Re: Sky HDR

@Super+Anthony  It doesn't say HLG. Just select UHD and of course you want 2160 ...

@Maverick1975 , it's not HDR it's HLG. It's royalty free and been around for 5 years. Believe in better but your not actually going to get it.... or very few are. It's all about the journey

HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG are all variants of HDR.

HLG was ratified as a standard by the ITU in late 2016, so not quite 4 years ago.

Re: Sky HDR

@rscott Didn't sky say it is a mix of the 2 that the BBC already uses as seen that in a lot of articles

Re: Sky HDR

@Austinored yes it was hdr ready. By that it means it had the correct hdmi version to transmit hdr and the panel was good for it etc. Sky have no excuse. Mine was the pana model above yours I think. The 800

10-bit depth isn't exclusive to HDR, it's also used by SDR displays.

Re: Sky HDR

I watched HDR on the BBC iPlayer and it was far superior to Sky's version of UHD.

That is why I have been frustrated by Sky's serial delays to the introduction of HDR.

You could say, "They've been building a journey to my frustration..."

I've just been looking at BT's bundled offering. On the face of it the cost seems a bit lower for a similar package. They don't have HDR either, but I just feel that my long running dissatisfaction with Sky over their casual treatment of long time, higher spending customers is like howling at the moon and I need to do something about it.

Re: Sky HDR

Content wise I must say the Malawi animal rescue service programme is not a good example of quality HDR content and am disappointed in that.

The other two series are very good and impressive as expected, the good news is that Sky do already have a good catalogue of Sky original content that was produced in HDR. This needs to be just recoded and uploaded to the servers so expect this to start happening over the coming weeks.

A clue that something may be coming in HDR is that it expires from On Demand and then returns a week later complete with HDR
