That Lemur programme is hilarious.

Time to consider HDR t.v. Upgrade during 2020.

If nothing else, there's a lot of people with a newfound knowledge of lemurs now. Some can relay more detail than others.

Just watching Gangs of Lemur in HDR.  It looks fantastic and certainly bright enough! 👍

@JOHNGALLEY  ring up sky don't even mention hdr tell them your box keeps resetting they will send an engineer tell him you want a new box after he's done his tests you will get a new box that's what I have done from v1 boxes all the way to my current v3

No HDR for my V1 2TB.

Makes me think back to the annual letter I receive from Sky kindly informing me of all the additional services they're providing in order to justify the yearly price increases.

Nice to know I'm now subsidising the service of others. I'll give Sky a chance to resolve this satisfactorily tomorrow.

And before someone rolls out the whole Pandemic/endangering lives line, why did Sky choose to launch this now if they're unable to support it?

@Ultramelon You are not subsidising me I pay my monthly subscription based on the packages I have regardless of which flavour Sky Q box I have.

I can watch my subscription on any compatible device (mobile device, games console, tablet and pc)

If your tv doesn't support HLG having a V2/V3 2TB Sky Q box is not going to make the HLG/HDR pop up on your screen.

Re: Sky HDR

@atann  hdr is 10bit so I assume it wouldn't work however I can confirm I've just changed to 8bit and hdr is still working but 10 bit would definitely be best

Hi All,

I am not greatly concerned but out of interest I just tried my 2016 Silver box ES140 (v1) and no HDR for me. So what the hell I phoned SKY who checked my hardware 32B059 and Software Q112 and said ALL 2TB boxes including mine should work 😀. I told him it clearly doesn't so he dug deeper. So he is going to phone me back tomorrow afternoon as he hasn't been issued the full HDR support information which isn't being released until launch day tomorrow.

However he thought it might be because I'm on the original Q Experience and not the new HD+UHD pack. So to get prepared for his call, could somebody confirm that they are getting HDR with the old Q Experience (Multiscreen) and don't have the new HD+UHD pack?

Mine's a Simular V1 box but the Hardware is 32B061 and no HLG still. I will check tomorrow before I call sky as this I have been awaiting for a long time.

I know all my equipment supports HLG via HDMI through the chain as I have tested BBC Iplayer 4K HLG content on my Panasonic UHD player as well as Amazon Fire Cube and all was going through my Denon Reciver. My TV also played 4K HLG on the internal BBC Iplayer app.

It sure is, quite enjoying it as a programme.
It does have a nice mix of camera angles and withe the old buidings and forest really does show the wonders of HDR in all its glory.

HDR also adds quite a sense of 3d perspective. and the Sky Q box is doing it all proud.

Re: Sky HDR

@atann HLG will work at both but you should definitely use 10-bit for the wide colour spectrum. Using 8-bit defeats the object of what it can achieve.

Well that's patronising. I fully understand what my TV is and isn't capable of.

I am paying Sky for a top tier subscription but am no longer being provided with their top tier service. The subscription I pay goes into Sky's coffers from which they fund new services, so yes, I am subsidising others.

If you were travelling to work on a season ticket and the train company decided to arbitarily upgrade random other passengers to first class on the same ticket, how would you feel?

"We would also expect Sky Sports to begin HDR live transmissions, once sporting fixtures return to the schedules." I hope so, please we've been waiting so long for this. I started a HDR post in July 18!

Re: Sky HDR

@Ultramelon

I am paying Sky for a top tier subscription but am no longer being provided with their top tier service.

Don't forget, you didn't sign up to receive Sky's top tier no matter how high that tier rises - you agreed a contract for UHD, the top tier at the time, and that's what they are delivering you. The fact that they have chosen to roll out HDR to those with more up-to-date boxes does not change the fact that you're getting precisely what you signed up to. You might feel aggrieved, but that doesn't change the terms of your contract.

I'm not saying it's fair that you and I can't get access, but stating you're entitled to it because of what you pay is wrong. There is nothing in our contracts that stipulates Sky will continue to pile on the good stuff.

They have no intention of preventing you accessing HDR, and so will upgrade our boxes in due course, but it is first and foremost a marketing tool to attract new customers or Sky+HD upgrades.
