Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

Not working for me on an M1 Mac Mini either. Appears to fire up in Rosetta but not connecting and giving an 001 connection error. Deleted and reinstalled with no improvement. Come on Sky Guys, it has been over two months now. My guess is it is either a Silverlight error or communication protocol error, most likely the latter.

Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

Exact same issue for me. Sky Go worked fine on my old MacBook.

I've got a new M1 MacBook Air, and I just keep getting the '001 Connection Error'. I've tried a fresh installation of the Sky Go app and still no joy.

Does Sky have any update?

Did you do a complete uninstall inclusing hidden folders:

Delete the Sky Go app.
Launch Finder, select Downloads then delete ‘SkyGoInstaller’.
Launch Finder again, select Go (at the top of the screen), then Computer.
Select Macintosh HD.
Go to Users > [yourusername] > Applications then delete the Sky Go app.
Then go to Library by Open Finder.
Click "Go" on the menu bar.
Press and hold the “option/alt” key.
Click the "Library" shortcut which appears.
Then navigate to the relevant folders (Application Support, Caches or Preference) and delete all SkyGo folders and files referencing Cisco player
Reboot your Mac and then download and install the Sky Go app again.

Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

There is a free app in the app store called appcleaner which I used to rermove the old install to get rid of all the library files. Then when I ran for the first time I was prompted to instal Rosetta and everything has worked fine since then.... I do tink the removal of old library files is a key part.

Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

Did all that, used App Cleaner, reinstalled but still got connection error. Can someone please be more specific about precisely which Cisco files to delete. I use Cisco for other purposes so cannot delete at random.

Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

I have previously had connection issues when I was on a subnet of my network of my main network, but when on the same network as the skyQ box everything connected fine. Sorry can't be of more help than that. Hope you get it sorted!

Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

I am completely side stepping my Sky HD+ box and connecting direct to Sky Go internet server. Sadly my last non-M1 Mac died yesterday, so only Internet Sky Go I have is an iPad.

Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

After several months and many different attempts I managed to get skygo working on my M1 Macbook pro this evening.

I downloaded the very latest version 21.1.2, just for completeness.

After install I ran the app and got the 001 error, I then "retry" about 3 more times, when I was presented with an alternative Button, cant remember the title, but its obvious. This then popped up a couple more Mac OS errors messages, about missing migration files. After that completed, it now seems to run and connect as it should.

The only thing I get now is a message about incoming connections, which I just cleck on accept. Will investigate how to get rid of that later. But it now works.

Hope this helps.

Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

What's the latest on this please?  Amazing that Sky are not keeping up with Apple releases.

Re: Sky Go Mac M1 Support

Like @Neroli above, if you persist, you will enventually get to odd messages like Javascript errors but just say OK to those and click on the continue button where it says you will be signed out and lose any saved positions (I don't have any). Eventually after saying it was downloading yet another update, Sky Go sprang to life, much to my surprise. Message to Sky - this is not exactly a customer friendly procedure and needs improvement. This worked both on my M1 Mac Mini and M1 MacBook Air.

@PhilCarden

I'd suggest Apple moving to M1 (ARM) processors isn't really a 'release': it's a whole new CPU architecture with the consequent need for emulation layer support in existing applications.  2006 all over again for those of us who have been doing this stuff for longer than we care to remember; )
