Re: Replacing Sky Q Modem Router Suggestions??

@Chrisee  They changed it to the third router but i originally had the middle router. They changed it because we complained about the broadband being slow

@Kierandgaf routers make little or no differencecto connection speed the only **bleep**ible improvement is with wifi. Advice on log in still stands.

@Kierandgaf what is your guaranteed minimum speed? As @Chrisee mentioned earlier, the SR03 or SR04 hubs are supplied when you have either a different service, subscription to broadband boost or have internet calls.

 If you had the Sky Q hub and was given the new broadband hub as a simple replacement (with no engineer visit to change the phone socket etc.) then the previous advice is valid.

If you upgraded to ultrafast then the device will not work.

@Kierandgaf that would indicate you're on Superfast FTTC VDSL, so the VR2100 shouldn't pose an issue

Re: Replacing Sky Q Modem Router Suggestions??

Hi,

I'm considering the TP Link router suggested and noticed the set-up notes about selecting Sky(Mer) and Sky. How do I know if my service is Sky Fibre or Sky Broadband?

I've looked at my package from the MySky app and it reads Sky Broadband Superfast with a 59mb service. Would this suggest I'm on a broadband service not fibre?

thanks in advance.

@KevRama

You are on Sky superfast which is Sky (Mer) on that router for selecting authentication with DHCP Option 61.

@Skull+Treaty @Chrisee  Is there anything I may have to do to get the sky q box to work on it

@Kierandgaf if you use any router other than a Sky hub there are changes on how the Sky Q tv boxes work over wifi. First point they stop being wifi hotspots for your other devices. The main Q box will link to the new router by wifi using only the 2.4GHz band. If you have any Sky Q minis or Sky boosters these now link to a closed 5GHz wifi signal from the main Q box.

There can be various issues especially if you used the Qtv boxes to extend your wifi network. It is also possible to have interference between the Sky 5GHz signal which uses ch36 to 52 and your new routers 5GHz wifi signal.

Re: Replacing Sky Q Modem Router Suggestions??

@mae-3

Hi. I was wonder if you can help me again, I've already replaced sky router with netgear but I m looking to buy a proper one and wanted to ask you about DrayTek Vigor 2860N or DrayTek Vigor 2862ac, will any of these two work with sky superfast broadband? Or maybe you can recommend any of draytek products? Thank you.

Re: Replacing Sky Q Modem Router Suggestions??

@Arturp19823

Either of the Draytek routers mentioned by yourself will work with Sky superfast broadband, eg: VDSL2.

@Arturp19823 from experience Draytek make excellent products but they are not the most user friendly to set up as their focus is on business use and they are therefore highly customisable - the opposite of the Sky hub. Choice should be down to what you need them for and.your budget.

Great if you need the features they offer.but overkill if you dont.

Re: Replacing Sky Q Modem Router Suggestions??

I am currently experiencing a lot of lag / jitter / latency when playing online with the PS5 and also get some buffering when streaming. The download and upload speeds seem to be okay though.

I have a couple of questions.

If I replace the router, is this likely to resolve the issue of lag / buffering ?

If so, what router would you recommend?

We have Sky Q too so would like a router compatible with our boxes.
