Re: Quantum leap series 2 episode 8
So the question now is ... do I continue with my Quantum Leap marathon or not given that not all of the episodes are available? 🤔 I'm probably being silly but I feel this had kinda spoiled things for me. 😬 Yes, I am the person who can't watch a sequel unless I've seen the original movie. 😖 Neither of this makes me a bad person. 😁 To be fair, as much as I love this series how is it allowed to get away with the attitudes that Al constantly displays about women and sex? Some of which is quite uncomfortable 😦 It's ridiculous to be censored in this way. 😠 I understand and welcome how we've moved away from such dreadful attitudes since this series first aired but the world can be [and has beenn] a hideous place sometimes and people need to see it for what it was back then. 🙂 I'm highly offended by everything the N*S*D*A*P did to the **bleep**, Politicos, Homosexuals, Roma, Sinti et al. Are all programmes featuring those atrocities going to be pulled too and if not, why not? What's the difference? 🙄 We can't wipe history out. 😧 Boo-hiss Sky/NowTV 😡

Quantum Leap S02E08 is available on NBC.com. So I want to know what it is about this episode that it's allowed to run in the US but it's banned in the UK. Why is the UK being such a mommy state? What not put up a warning and let us decide if we want to watch it or not? Heck, I saw it back when I was 26 years old in 1989.
Why can't we be told what it is we are not allowed to see? Heck, I could be older then the people who restricted this episode.

Sky's platform and Sky's editorial decision. No reason beyond that required.

Re: Quantum leap series 2 episode 8
It's all subjective nonsense.
The idea that Sky has taken this decision as 'a responsible broadcaster' is laughable when at any time of the day (sometimes with a pin) you can see physical violence, sexual violence, nudity and sexualised content, racism, discrimination, horror, the list is endless.
A story of overcoming prejudice and adversity as a person with Down's Syndrome gets deleted..... Well done Sky. You should pay yourself on the back. Not.

What is it about Sky that thinks that we are unable tomak our own decisitions about programs like this where Disny+ puts up a warningand lets us decide? Disney+ has a lot more kids that might watch some of this content then would be watching Quantum Leap. I will have to watch this episode and see what all the hassle is.

I've watched programs from one of Sky's channels that I would not let kids watch. I've seen things on the news that I would not want kids to see. Can't we just turn on the child locks, rate this episode as adult and let us watch it?

Re: Quantum leap series 2 episode 8
I'd think that to be a perfectly reasonable suggestion 🙂
if you can track down the episode without too much expense I would highly recommend doing so. It was my favourite and resonated with a lot of people which may be part of the reason the character featured again in two more episodes.
Hope you find it.
I may drop Sky a quick email on the matter but I shouldn't imagine it'll be worth the trouble.

I have found it on NBC.com. If you have a VPN where you appear to be from the US hen you can watch it.

Re: Quantum leap series 2 episode 8
If we continue to censor the past and all that happened then the assumption maybe made by people is to say that there was never any problem as there is no evidence of it and no evidence that anything was ever done if there was.
if the R word is eliminated from all broadcasts ever then it could be assumed it was never said on tv ever.
Quantum Leap was a great example of where all types of isms were confronted and challenged and an example was set.
all Sky have done is failed to educate and have left those who say that word now to think of it as a new word because all previous references are scrubbed from historical sources.

@seandrews if you feel strongly about it, i'd suggest raising your comments with Sky's Viewer Relations team.

Re: Quantum leap series 2 episode 8
The episode in question isn't about a person with cerebral palsy, it's a out a person with downs syndrome.
And actually it's a good episode about how he wants to get a job but no one trusts him because of his disability and then he proves them wrong.
The reason sky seem to have omitted it is because he uses the word **bleep**, the could have blanked it out really. The rest of the episode is fine.

Re: Quantum leap series 2 episode 8
TV companies must think that the way to eradicate all forms of discrimination is to simply wipe if from history.
The theory that if there is no evidence it didn't happen???
at least soon no one will ever know the r word because all references will have been removed and if it is said in future it will be assumed to be the 1st time.
you can't educate anyone without any reference points.
