Problems with Sky Ultrafast router and a WD MyBookLive NAS.

Hi everyone,

Ever since I upgraded to Sky Ultrafast, I've had an annoying problem. Any time I access my WD MyBookLive NAS, the broadband connection drops out, it never happened with the old router. Anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas on how to fix it.

@Amateurfool how close is the NAS to the hub or is it connected by a powerline adapters? There have been issues between G.fast and some Powerline adapters as they use similar frequencies.

@Amateurfool

Can you post your router stats & support log when the issue occurs?

Hmmm does seem like the WAN is dropping. If you unplug the NAS drive does the connection stay stable for a good amount of time

The WAN reconnects within a couple of minutes of the data transfer from the NAS finishing, and is fine until I try to copy something else, when the WAN drops again.

To me then it sounds like one of two issues,

- The router is faulty and crashing out when you start high bandwidth file transfers

- The line is dodgy and is producing errors, when uploading these errors are enough to cause a line drop.

You have close to your download speed dispite missing ds2 and ds3 line attenuation.  On the upload side your are missing all 3. Your upload could be a bit higher

I can test this by copying a large file between two other devices.
I will attempt that now.

@jamesn123
Copying a large file between two wireless devices didn't trigger a drop out.
I will power on my wired desktop once I finish work and test with that, wondering if it's the interaction between wired/wireless where the problem occurs..

Do you have nas on lan or wifi ? Are you on a g.fast connection.  ?  Still can't ignore the fact that on ultrafast your upstream should be 30-50 Mbps

@cookiemonsteruk NAS is on a LAN connection, and I'm on Sky Ultrafast, upgraded from Superfast about three weeks ago.

Not that it makes any difference the fact that your stats are visible indicates g.fast.  can you check your hub is the sr204 variant
