Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

BT sport recordings have started pixelating again unfortunately.. not sure if this is just me.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Since my boxes updated to 180, I've had no issues with pixelating on the minis or the annoying repeat scene issue I also had, so hopefully it has done the trick.

So that's the problem gone with me not changing anything on my network or equipment layout/configuration. Everything has remained the same as before the problem occurred, during it and now at resolution.

seems that it has worked for a few others, too.

shame it has take best part of a year to rectify

i totally agree spent many hours on phone calls, think I had 6 or 7 engineering visits. I paid to upgrade my router but refused to hard wire my mini box as it would be such a difficult and unsightly job.,  One engineer accused me of messing with my system when I pointed out that I was a retired network and data engineer and had  probably forgot more than she knew. Apart from that visit the engineers at the sharp end were excellent and really knew it was a software problem.  As you have said if Sky had admitted there was a problem with software and reduced my payments until fixed I may have been a happier customer. My boxes are still on Q170 did you say Q180 is still ok.

Q170 fixed my pixellation and Q180 appeared to do nothing to my system. You should have received Q180 by now surely?

However, I'm still not 100% hapy with the audio.  Some of the sound edits sound a bit clipped, as though the audio drops out completely for half a second when cutting between cameras/scenes. Or maybe they've given all the audio engineering/editing jobs to apprentices.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box kit

Hi

To be honest Software Q180 has got rid of most problems no pixalation now just a few stutters and repeats but other wise good. Only took about 9 months and 7 useless engineering visit and hours old the phone. 😱😱

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Thought I'd post an update here.

Currently on Q180 (5f5ezi8), and have been for a while. And I've got to say, everything seems fine now (touch wood).

Live TV and recordings have practically zero issues, there is the odd pixelation or blocking, but it happens so infrequently that it's not really an issue, also sometimes happens on the main Q box, so it could just be "one of those things"

Only fair to put a positive post up as a follow up when things are going well.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

The only remaining pixellation glitches for me are caused exclusively by mobile cameras which are presumably not wired. ITV Racing coverage of the horseracing is impeccable except that every time they cut to the camera in or on the car which is following the runners around the inside of the racecourse, the pixellation is guaranteed. It can also occur when similar types of camera are used for the footy or the golf or the Tour de France cycling where the camera is hand-held on a motorbike - but since it doesn't happen at other times, I assume the producers just haven't figured out how to get a solid stream back from these cameras. Surprising really to broadcast knowing that the picture is going to break up but I don't think it's anything to do with Sky Q - indeed, I used to see it on Sky+ HD too.  So I have to live with it. At all other times, which is 99% of the time, everything looks great now after Q170/180.
