Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

It may be nonsense but the engineer who came last week showed me her handheld device and the briefing re pixelation and that the software engineers were working on it.

My engineer also confirmed this (following an on-site conversation with his TAP technical team)  but at least some of the front line SkyQ telephone support people either haven't been told about it or have been instructed to pretend this bugfix update doesn't exist.

I would be surprised if it was the mesh network  as there is no more than 4 metres  between devices and 30/50 mb speed  everywhere I test.

Each of my Mini boxes has access to a constant wired speed of over 900Mbps - albeit they can't swallow more than 100Mbps as they are shackled by their port speed - and the issues persist when I revert all the boxes to wi-fi where they each have access to over 500Mbps. When my TV apps bypass Sky to access Netflix, Prime Video, etc there is never a glitch. No other device on my network ever has a glitch. My home network was professionally installed at considerable expense. Sky have admitted that at least the pixellation and audio dropout issues are bugs in their system which they are working to fix. Why would anyone still insist that the cause lies elsewhere?

Apart from that there is not millions of people on this forum  so how would you know.

There may be some combinations of equipment which work fine while others don't but that would still be a Sky problem. There may be some types of network design (perhaps non-mesh LANs without any hubs or switches) which work fine while others don't but that would still be a Sky problem. And there may be people who don't notice the faults or blame them on the broadcaster (which is true in a small number of cases).

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

So, we think we've got to the bottom of this and we've started to test a fix to be included in release 16. We'll let you know when we have more information but as we're only in the middle of rolling out release 15 this is still likely a few months away.

Thanks,

That's a positive anyway, as long as it gets fixed 👍

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Kei+M  Thanks for posting Kei: all hands on deck please to get 16 out of the door! [Rumour was that it was going to jump over 15 to get pushed out first but we've waited this long so…

Anything you can share about the possible/probable cause/s of these issues would be appreciated - especially if there are any interim self-help steps we can take to improve the situation while we wait for the fix.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I for one would love to know what the cause of this issue is!  Can you share anything with us @Kei+M ?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

So today I had yet another engineer visit, I explained everything that has happened and showed him this thread and all the comments and guess what, he sent a screen shot to his manager and then told me that this is not a software fault and neither his manager or him are aware of any problems,, so I'll just wait with the rest of the customers to see wha happens next, I just wish Sky would send out a bulletin to all staff so they all tell the same story!

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Thought it had stopped

but watched Ackeley Bridge  on the ski mini and it pixelated a few times. Any one else still having issues?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Hi

I had the same sort of visit but the engineer gave me her hand held device and showed me a briefing regarding pixelation. The complaints guy who is ringing me regularly to keep me happy is also aware of a problem. His mini box is running 150 but it's not been distributed yet.  My blue screens have been fix by the new up to date router, which is a boost but cost discounted off packages.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

In early monitoring, my v150 update seems to have reduced my pixellation issues by about half but increased my audio dropouts by around 500% - and they're longer too.

Yes I agree that's what we are seeing less pixelation but more sound drop

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Hi

Judt looked and my mini box is upgraded to 150 firmware. You know when it's upgraded as when you press the vioce button on the remote prompt comes up in left top corner of screen not the middle.
let's see what happens. 😂

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I thought it was 160 that is supposed to fix the pixelation issues.  I'm sure the Sky rep said 150 didn't have the fix applied as it was too late to be included in the update.

I'm seeing differences in the main bugs with v150. Fewer but bigger pixellation strikes and a lot more audio dropouts.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Completely agree. This is exactly the same since I've had the update....really hoping the expected fix is released soon....
