Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@WILLIAMSRENAULT

I have had power line adapters from before having sky q never an issue, I replaced power line WiFi extenders with just power lines as I am working from home and my pc is connected to one and the other is only used when my grandson is home from the RAF for his Xbox so I really don't think it's the power lines.  I have moved Amazon Alexa's away from the boxes moved my smart meter moved the hub away from the sky q box but still makes. I difference

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Pixelation is ridiculous tonight on the master bedroom mini.  Almost unwatchable.

All other WiFi devices turned off and rebooted router and Sky Q boxes and it still doing it.

This is a major problem now but who can be bothered  phoning up to be dragged around the house changing settings and rebooting stuff for the hundredth time!?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I cannot believe how frustrating it is trying to talk to Sky about any issues!

Thought i'd give them a call this morning as my main box has started pixelating on live TV so I suspect an alignment issue with the dish.  I think this is a seperate issue to the mini box pixelation.

The guy proceeded to drag me around the house taking photos of all my equipment.

Apparently my router is too close to the wall and a photo frame.

I cannot have my main Sky box in a glass fronted cabinet (where its been for God knows how many years and worked flawlessly).  He wanted me to move all my equipment so its out in the open and away from other electrical devices, including a TV!

All my issues are suddenly related to WiFi signal interference.

Even when I pushed him on the fact that live TV doesn't use the WiFi he insisted it did.

So I have to remodel my house to accommodate Sky TV - great!

In the end I just hung up on him although I am no further forward now!

Sorry but just needed to vent!

It's crazy isn't it! All they want to do is pass the blame for issues back onto the customer.

I don't usually lose my rag with people over the phone as they are just doing their job however we hear the same script over and over again.

After pointing him to this thread I even got the standard  "This is the first I have heard of an issue with the Sky mini's" and the classic "I have the same setup at home and haven't experience any issues"

Hi @Anthonyh1976  Have you tried changing the video output from the mini box to 1080i?

I used to have superpowers… But a therapist took them away.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Thats normally selected as standard and you have to change to 1080p i did this from day one never had a problem  untill recent. Some are also running UHD and it still doing it

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

F.y.i. I have tried having the boxes set to 1080i for a few days and 1080p for a few days- makes absolutely no difference to the pixilation issue

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Hi

I don't mind if you want to vent.

Bare with me and I'll  explain my situation.

I worked for Bt for 42 years and ended up working on major networks,  when I retired Bt wouldn't give me a good deal so went to TalkTalk. I had TalkTalk broadband and old HD sky distibuted around house using rf output work very well and WiFi coverage was brilliant. Having built a new conservatory that we spend most of our time in decided it would be nice to watch HD tv on my new Samsung tv so decided to get sky Q and sky broadband, thought the mesh network (wireless access points from each mini box would be good).

Have had issues with connection problems from day one, two engineering visits all equipment changed except hub and a booster fitted, remote sky technician did a network scan and said they could see lots of network problem hence engineer visits but still the same.
My sky router is in the same position as my old TalkTalk router my main sky box is connected using Ethernet.
My biggest problem is that there is no technical information or diaganotic tools to test the mesh. Do the mini talk directly to the main box or by using the other mini boxes or hub.

If I had this I could test diagnose my own network.
I am able to stand in my house and see three of my televisions two mini boxes and the main box when I have connection problem both mini boxes go off  together main keeps going, and you get no internet access until they come back.

Any help or advise from community or sky employees would be great, I am paying for my sky package + sky sports £88 a month expect it to work.
Sorry for the long post hope it all makes sense.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Further comment,  I seem to only get Pixelation on playback on either one of my 2 Mini boxes.

Is that the most common situation?  Not live shows.  I have not tested if  playback on a mini and recording on main box tiggers Pixelation more frequently.

Anyone done any testing to see if it load on the Q box,  what about having both mini's on at the same time to they Pixelate together ?
