Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

When I started this thread I thought it was just me who was having this issue

Least I know that certainly isn't the case!

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

You are definitely not alone with the issue. Just need Sky to replicate the issue as I'm sure this is a software issue. I'd put money on it that if they rolled people back to the firmware that was running prior to the last one that was introduced around December that the issue goes away - as it was all 100% fine prior to this for years...

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

We also have this issue pixelated recordings on mini boxes also now and again the fast forward skips back, very annoying I have reset the hard drive on the main box which doesn't have any problems we have one mini hard wired also no issues only the WiFi connected mini boxes.  We have the main sky a box connected to the hub via Ethernet so WiFi is turned off on the main box also on the mini that is hard wired, I have a new router coming this week so will try that, I was going to remove the Ethernet connecting the main sky a to the router and try connecting everything back up again to the shy q box, but reading these comments it seems it happening to a lot of people whether they have only one mini box or three or whether connected via the hub or sky q box there must be an issue for us all having the same issue.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Well a new development today.  The main box is now pixelating on recordings.

I am at the end of my rope with Sky now.

As if the SR203 DHCP issues weren't bad enough.  Sky Q was great, now it's completely flawed.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Your kidding! Dose anyone know how this works when we report such a case how long dose it take for a full investigation to happen can we speed up the process? I'm wondering how many people its happening to but they just don't notice or report it. Its getting on my nerves too!

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I get it as well on both my Mini boxes from time to time. Totally random when it happens.  The only thing I can see is a strong correlation with viewing HD recordings.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Totally agree never had any trouble when it was first released, now it's one issue after another it's either stop/pause/repeat a sentence or pixelated recordings issues with fast forward or pause they only thing that's getting better is the loss of connection, does everyone have their hub connected via an Ethernet cable with WiFi turned off on the main sky q box a lot of my issues started when the sky engineer connected mine this way and added a booster, we ended up having to turn the booster off as everything went totally off the scale with lost connection, we then had one mini box hard wired, I have no issues with that mini box I wish they all could be hard wired but obviously not enough ports on the hub to do that as we have 4 mini boxes.  New hub coming this week so I might reconnect everything back through the sky q box and see what happens.

1 sky q box  replaced 3 times

4 mini boxes all replaced and one hard wired

hub connected directly to sky q box but awaiting replacement

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Has to be software by the looks and sounds of things then they never dis fix the standby issues still advising customers to ture off eco and active.

I found when i hard wired my main Q it still connected via WiFi and was using that option I did find by going into engineer mode I turned off the WiFi for both the 2.4 and 5ghz options testing confimed when selecting off and removing eathernet cable i lost connection where on and I removed the cable it would still be connected and connection loss as was on WiFi maybe this is yet to be confirmed by others.

@Anonymous

Yes both wifi channels are turned off on the main sky q and the wired mini box but if remove the Ethernet cable from the sky q main box to the hub then I will turn the WiFi back on on the main sky q box, I have all my boxes on active because otherwise if you want to watch tv before 6am on a mini box they won't turn on so strange, I will update once I have tried a few different connection settings

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I never had Pixelation before Nov (nearly 3 year of operation) but I did get the the odd lost of connection and repeated sentences etc...  Eveything was on Wifi Mesh to ER115.

Pixelation first started after I got a new router and the engineer (non-Sky contractor)  could not get the new router to re-sync with my main Q box on WPS so he got some powerline adaptors out of his van and wired them up between router and mani Q box.  Kept the Q minis on Wifi and the WPS was OK.  I am not sure if it is connected or not.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Yes I noticed when I upgraded my sky Broadband I went for the ultra and i got the latest modem and using voip I just plugged the eathernet cable in to it and it did the connection for me for WiFi was very strange

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Oharedm

There must be a software issue, I still have WiFi on three minis only turned off on the main sky q and hard wired mini, the mini hard wired via a proper outside sky job not through a power line, I am going to try going back to the normal configuration of connecting the hub via WiFi then the 3 minis to the sky q box and see what happens, if that fails then I will go back to Ethernet from hub to main sky q box, I have already reset the hard drive it's just trial and error for now but I have an engineer booked which is the 7th engineer we have had out in the last 6 months it's ridiculous but as they can't enter the house at present I keep putting it back!

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Whats interesting is I see others feeds about thos topic and some reported having it as early as July 2020.

Engineering visits not fixed it

Dish alignment not fixed it or been a cause.

Format HDD not fixed it

Software update not fixed it

All what had been suggested not fixed it.

We all have different boxes? Like the new uhd 1tb the 2tb the older 1tb and its all doing it on them some have a different modem. Has to be a transmitted issue? Software maybe? The box is constantly talking down the line with sky and over the air so could be something that causing a dip. I don't know its driving me mad keep wondering what it is and why its happening.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I've had my Q 2TB, mini and router since 2016 so guess the original releases.

I added a couple of tp link power line adapters in September but these issues started for me late December, I might try turning the power lines off see if that does anything.

I tried a reset on the mini yesterday and that seemed to cure it, but only for a day then it started again..
