Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Unfortunately seems to be getting worse today

Surely this is a widespread issue?

I have had Sky since March and this only started happening around October. There must be a link with a recent update etc ?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I have been having this issue too. Sky came out and replaced both my main sky q box and mini box today  plus corrected an allighment issue with my dish and I still get the pixilated picture at random when watching recordings on the mini box ☹️

No ignal related issues and live tv is fine.

Id say this issue stated within the last month or so.

Perhaps a software update has broken something?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I have exactly the same problem of pixilated play back on my minibpox only. Have reset main & minibox checked sofware etc but still have the same problem I have had for the last month. Just need help as totally frustrating. nigsmith@

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Agreed - it's v frustrating as there doesn't appear to be any way to fix - I guess it needs a software update to address: but that needs Sky to at least acknowledge there is an issue. Let's hope they do have people that monitor their community forums

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I've commented on another thread but just wanted to add my name to this one.

I have been having the exact same problem since my mini box updated with the version that included Amazon Prime.

As someone else mentioned it's been getting progressively worse over the last few days where it will pixelate or freeze for a second or two.

I wonder if it is related the the ongoing DHCP / firmware issues with the SR203/204 routers that Sky are reluctant to acknowledge?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

To keep this thread updated, I've noticed it's only certain recordings that do this.

I've had Friday Night Dinner on my planner for a year or two and that pixelates constantly.  It's unwatchable on the mini but is fine on the main box.  Recent recordings of the Fresh Prince also break up but the IT Crowd which I've also had for years is fine.

as with everyone else live TV is fine so it can't be a network issue.

I assume that this issue is related to the varying bit rate of the recorded files.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I have also had this for some time now. I can confirm for myself its on most recordings if not all to the Q mini. Main Q is fine plays and streams constant all day never a problem. I would say this is not a signal/wifi issue and its a new thing i have not changed or moved my equipment for past 2 years. Was fine before within the last few months I noticed this  Q Mini streams well on Netflix amazon etc mesh network providing a good speed of just under 80 meg so something not right i would say software. Best way I can describe it is like interference. Its very strange.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Decided to do a search on this issue to see if other people are suffering with it and it is the case

My mini has been doing it for around 3 weeks now with downloaded content. At first the pixellation was in the same place if I rewound and replayed so I deleted and re-downloaded, which seemed to work.

Just had it again tonight but this time I rewound and replayed and the pixellation didn't occur...

Wondered if it was due broadband use so stopped all traffic on the router bar the Q and mini but made no difference.

I do have a problem with my dish alignment, well it's more the tree outside but it's fine at the moment as there are no leaves on it but come Spring I'll need to get that seen to.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

I was thinking could it be bad weather or a tree moving causing a signal issue. Surely we would have noticed it why watching live. And again nothing has changed my end.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

A Sky Employee has responded to the other thread here:

Pxelation on Recordings On Mini

He says they will carry out some tests but seems adamant that "this is a connectivity issue".

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Thanks for your fast reply and help.

Really! I'm not sure about that i guess we will have to sit and wait for an answer/fix.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@AnonymousI'm 100% certain its not a connectivity issue but getting Sky to accept that is tricky.

I'm praying they actually see the issue during their tests otherwise its going to be swept under the carpet!
