Pixelation on recordings mini box

Hello all

So im having issues with my mini box

I am getting pixelation on recordings on my mini box. I have had a booster fitted and a new mini box but issues remain

Strangely it seems that the issue only really occurs on BT Sports recordings. Occasionally it will happen on other recordings (very minor pixelation) but it will constantly happen on BT sport with the picture breaking up every minute or so.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Ant1328 As the recordings are done on the main Q box do you see an issue there when you play them back?

Thanks for reply

No issue on the main box.  Signal strength on the settings tab is OK

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Ant1328  So the same recordings you play on your mini work ok on Q box? if this is the case then it is a singal issue to your mini box. Have you a booster?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

This isn't a signal issue, there are a few on here that are having the same issue with recordings/downloads pixelating on the mini box particularly on bt sport that seems to coincide with Q140.

If it was a signal issue I would imagine it would also affect live tv but that is working fine.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Exaclty. No issue with anything else apart from pixelation on BT sport recordings.

I have just watched a programme on Premier sport and was fine. BT sport now and its pixelating constantly.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Ant1328 @no1gooner  so to be clear when you watch the same recording on your main Q box it does not pixelate?  only on your mini box?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Yes that is the case

How can it be a signal issue when it is only certain recordings though I.e. just BT sport?

Live TV works perfectly fine on my mini box.

@Ant1328  right that is strange. Live TV for BT sports also works fine?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Live BT Sport I've not experienced any pixelation. I occasionally get a bit of stuttering in sound and picture but this isn't common

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Ant1328  I would try a reset of your mini box and see if that cures your issue. As the recording is fine when it leaves your Qbox. who do you pay your BT sports too? SKY or BT?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

@Ant1328

From your description, I'm guessing these are HD recordings from BT Sports - I had a similar problem just over a week ago, but it affected playback on my main Qbox (never watch sport on mini)

each recording stated it had 'software issue' - apparently the 4 BT Sports HD channels share 2 transponders between them, nothing else on them.

it was suggested to me that I try a re-boot (power down at the socket, leave for at least 30 seconds, then restart)

since doing this I have not had the problem - suggest you re-boot the main Q box and your minis, hopefully this will resolve your problems.

if it doesn't my source said it could be a very slight dish mis-alignment.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

If it was a slight dish alignment issue causing the problem it would affect live tv also not just playing back recordings on a mini box I can watch bt sport live on the mini box with no issue. What I have noticed is when it pixelates if you rewind the recording back and watch it again it doesn't pixelate in the same spot so it can't be a dish issue.
Was also watching some downloads from BBC earlier on the mini box and that was also pixelating every few minutes.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Hi

it seems that many of us are suffering exactly this issue. Live TV is perfect but recordings pixelate when played on the mini box. Those same recordings are fine when played back from the main box. Also, on the mini box, if the recordings are rewound, they don't pixelate at the same place each time.

it certainly is not a signal weakness problem. I am hard wired with gigabit Ethernet. I have replaced the Ethernet cables, the hdmi cable and even tried a different tv but the problem is unchanged.

as the recordings play fine from the main box, connected via hdmi to the tv, it would point towards a problem in transmitting the files over the network.

Will Sky please let us know that they are aware of the problem please?

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box

Yes I have tried everything including rebooting boxes, installing a booster and a new mini box

It is surely a wider issue as you've mentioned above.
