Paying off contract with BT

I have just ordered Sky Superfast broadband and was told by the sales guy that Sky would pay off my current contract with BT

I have had many emails from sky but no where does it mention paying off BT but I have had an email from BT saying what thiere estimated final bill will be. Has anyone else had a contract paid off by Sky? and how does it work?

Re: Paying off contract with BT

Thank you for that I was not told I had to clain for it as I did not ask for this I was offered it. What happens if they reject the claim I will be £225 out of pocket? Also why have I not been sent an email about claiming?

@nobby24  They shouldn't reject the claim but you'll only receive £100 back as that's the limit per service

there's no email information sent about claiming afaik

@nobby24

The profit margin on domestic broadband provision barely covers initial setup costs incurred by the ISP (mostly in Openreach fees): realistically you're not going to get hundreds of pounds of penalty fee covered by another supplier you might transfer to as they can't make that back over their own minimum contract period.

Re: Paying off contract with BT

@TimmyBGood

Yes it's just annoying that the guy told me that it did not matter how long I was in contact with BT and did not explain the £100 limit.

Anyway it's sorted now and the guy I spoke to gave me even more discount and a credit so I'm going to go with Sky broadband. Funny thing is my BT speed has been really slow since I ordered Sky went down to about 1mb last night!
