Openreach visit

I recently bought a house and my broadband is due to be installed on 20 Jan.  I know an engineer will need to enter my house to fit a new socket.  In track my order it is now saying that Openreach are not visitng homes due to Covid until June.  I need the broadband installed as I work for the NHS and have to work from home at times.

Does anyone know if Openreach are still visiting homes to install broadband?

@Catherine-87

They are visiting homes providing nobody is self isolating and you maintain a distance from the engineer

@Catherine-87 Could that be a very old update meaning June 2021?

Re: Openreach visit

Engineer visits during COVID-19

We’re all working differently in these challenging times to keep our colleagues, partners and customers safe, and to make sure our most vulnerable customers are prioritised.

Because of this, Openreach are currently minimising any work inside the home. That means Broadband & Talk orders that need access to the home to install a new line will be paused until June – but this might change.

If you’re switching to Sky Broadband or moving home and you have an engineer booked to install your new line, then Openreach will still attempt to connect your service but they’ll now try and do that from outside your home, so you might not see an engineer on the day.

If they can get you up and running, then you’ll still be connected on the activation date in your welcome letter or email – don’t forget this can be anytime up to midnight. But if they can’t, we’ll get in touch to postpone your installation.

@Catherine-87 Okay. Doesn't confirm either way. It was just a thought.

Edit: posts crossed but the post by @Beckyg80 seems to answer your query.

@Catherine-87

Either that information is out of date or its poorly written and is referring to people ordering a second broadband line into their property.

As it states further down Openreach will at first attempt to connect you up without visiting the home. If that isnt possible they will still visit.
