Re: New Update is now out.

@Duncanh454 thanks, I've got a Fire 4k Max which works great for Disney+ and Atmos/Vision, it would just be handy for the Sky Glass app to support this.

@SDR been playing with settings on my TV and the Auto backlight bug seems fixed the picture is brighter have set it to on in Movie mode for the time being to see how it goes. HDR looks better but definitely not the sets strong point.

The bug where the motion sensor lost its settings seems fixed as does the Bass boost setting. Start up is a bit faster. Also not seen the slowdown catch up issue on over 4 hours viewing not sure if that is the update or changes at the server end as it seemed better before the update landed.

Been running through the apps and looking at the Amazon app as people were saying it is very grainy.  .i used the Wheel of Time via the Sky Glass app and via the LGC9's app and the picture shows no noticeable differences.

Not got the regional mix ups others have and the TV guide is fully populated just have to stop pressing select on the default as it loads the ITV restart option have to go right instead. Also quite like the rail for restart.

All in all the new firmware is an upgrade fingers crossed we get the missing apps like Peacock and perhaps another firmware release before Sky freeze the code for Christmas.

@Chrisee  so had you not been using the custom pitcure settings before the update? i might have a proper play with it later, as ive kept it to my custom settings and not tryed the default ones since the new firmware dropped. By having auto backlight set to on , does this override the local dimming  setting ?

Re: New Update is now out.

The sky glass apps do support it.  I watch Disney+ UHD HDR through the tv app

Re: New Update is now out.

@threxr It's not HDR that is being requested, its Dolby Vision, which the current Sky Glass App, does not support.

Hi @M3rk I was using the custom settings with the autobacklight turned off as the picture was too dim otherwise. I may go back to those but I am trying the set in its near default settings for a few days so I can help forum members - slight conscience as I did the get the TV free. 😀

@threxr if you have a TV thst supports Dolby Vision you will see a quite distinct difference between HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

I did a comparison earlier today between the Stream Puck's Disney + app and  my LG. C9s own app. Glass was pretty good but the native app had far greater impact. Disney have done a great job with their transfers and it is a slight shame the Glass gets near but not quite there.

Re: New Update is now out.

Very disappointing that they still haven't activated BBC iPlayer in UHD via the pucks. I'd have expected this to be a priority for Sky.

Re: New Update is now out.

So, since yesterday's software update I am still unable to use my Sky Puck. I have rebooted the puck countless times but it just runs through a couple of cycles of red/amber flashing lights and a blue screen appears on TV asking to point SKY Q remote at the SKY Q box whilst holding down buttons 4 and 6 (same as @Dave+r+robbo posted on this thread last night) The light on the  puck then goes out before you can hold down any buttons on the remote, and will not turn back on or respond to remote control.

I have tried hardwiring the puck via ethernet to the Sky router, but that didn't work either.

Glass TV updated with no problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I waste hours on the phone?

Thanks in advance!

Re: New Update is now out.

Sky by night

here is how I done it .

i had the same problem.

I got the blue screen asking to press 6 and 4 .

at this point I turned the tv off.

i unplugged the Ethernet from the puck .

I then turned the TV on so the blue screen came up .

I then plugged the Ethernet back into the puck.

no lights came up on the puck but the new software started to download after that the light lit on the puck.

good luck

Re: New Update is now out.

Had a couple of picture freezes (on a puck) this evening while watching The Chase and Emmerdale. Not as bad as the speed up jerky video, but it seems there is still an issue.
