Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Hi,
Thinking of signing for the fibre package with sky, I will be coming from plusnet. Will I still be able to port forward and had it still got a dynamic IP address client for updating to no-ip or dyndns? Also do you know if sky other a static IP?
Cheers
Matt

Sky do not offer static IP addresses on any of their current internet products.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Have any of the testers or indeed anyone with the sr203 hub had any issues with not being able to log into the routers settings pages? I have just had my sky q TV replaced and sue to the issues had with wifi and mesh the engineer was given authorisation to put in the new router and a new booster (instead of the existing hub 3 and two older boosters). Managed to log in and change the ssid and passwords but now not able to log into the settings. Other forums mention it might be faulty router. Anyone else had this issue and work around without having the router replaced?

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@kit77 not personally but it is easy to mistype the wifi password when logging in - the password setiing stays with the default wifi password bybthe way it doesn't change.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
I know but it isn't that at all. Have changed default and managed to login but now cannot. Have cleared cache on devices, have cleared saved passwords from password managers etc. Still having issues. Will try a reset and hope this doesn't destroy the very very much improved mesh. Then will do as much settings as possible before logging out. Hopefully will be sorted. Wonder if the firmware update it did after changing settings is the issue.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Right, figured it out. Because the wifi password did not conform to the security settings for the admin password (it was not 10 digits which is the minimum) it had reset itself to the default admin password once it was signed out from (i guess the engineers) ipad.
I managed to gain access again using the default password and since managed to change admin password to my own following the criteria set. Seems to be okay now.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
So, i have had my old sky hub and two boosters replaced last week with the new sr203 router and one of the new boosters. Wow, what a difference. Much better wifi coverage. No drop outs from the two sky q mini boxes. No issues of reconnecting with apple devices when moving through the mesh and needing to change access point. 4 ethernet ports rather than two (so now hard wired TV and sky q 2tb). Noticable improvement in number of devices able to connect without causing issues. Now able to connect my wifi doorbell camera (previously had to have a separate homeplug wifi adapter to get this on the network).
This is the product sky should have had with the launch of sky q. It is shocking they are not upgrading all sky q multiroom customers as a standard procedure. I only managed to get the upgrade when my sky q 2tb needed to be replaced due to a hard disk failure... mentioned my mesh connection issues to the engineer and he went to the van and dug out the new router and booster and sorted me out (what a star)!

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
How do you turn on the hotspots? I'm sure that option used to be there but can't find it now

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@Garry777 Q tv box hotspots are always on as long as their wifi is active. As soon as a Q box links to the router it acts as a hotspot with the same SSID.
You cannot see the multiple hotspots on many devices as you only see a single Sky SSID but thry are there - if concerned download a wifi analyser app and you will see them on thst.

I find WiFi analyser apps to slow down the speed

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@Garry777 I think we are at cross purposes. You use a Wifi Analyzer app just to see what networks are in range of the device it is installed on. It is a disgnostic aid not something you run all the time.
