@SBrisbane it is possible that Powerline adapters can cause issues with fibre broadband as the frequencies used by both can interfere. First thing is possibly using a surge protector on the mains supply for the hub and keep the moddmmlrad away from mains cables.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

Thanks @Chrisee , currently the powerline adapters are plugged directly into the wall sockets, no surge protectors are being used apart from the one that the power plug from the router is plugged in to

@SBrisbane are you using,the master phone socket and is it pre-filtered type for the hub?  You can pick up interference through internal phone wiring. The prefiltered sockets should isolate the two.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

  I have this new hub on the way as we speak. I have been having hub issues for a while and they offered me a choice between the new one or a new replacement of the qhub. I'm confused as to where I'm supposed to be plugging my phone in? Most are saying into the hub but my openreach master socket have them as 2 separate lines, how is it going to take calls from 1 line and switch them to them to the data line without some sort of connection to it? ( simpleton explanation please 😂)

@Lfcdavem82

The phone port on the new Hub is only relevant if you have a Sky package with internet calls instead of a landline.  This is only on their newest services, so chances are your phone just needs to plug into the socket on the Openreach block where it was before.  If you get a dial-tone, you're good to go.

Your phone only plugs into the Hub if you have internet calling with your Talk package. If you don't have internet calls, the phone p,ugs into your normal phone socket. The setup instructions for the Hub are here.

@georgie+Willy

Thats probably a question for Google. I'd imagine you might need to reset the Google hub and start again with it on your new Sky hub.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

Hello. Does anyone know of there is an option to put this into bridge mode so it only operates as the modem ? (I can use a proper router that way).
Thanks 🙂

No bridge mode on any Sky Hubs I'm afraid.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

Just got my new hub. Can anyone suggest how I would best have my phone in a different room to the hub. (Running a long phone cable to the hub isnt an option). Is there a way to wirelessly connect the phone port on the hub to a phone device elsewhere in the home?

@NSyl  a cordless phone is probably the simplest answer. Plug the base station into the Hub, and put the handset whether it's convenient.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

@Mark39 that isnt really an option as the base station is normally the charging dock for the handset, and I need to be able to leave the handset charging at the location it is used. I wonder if there is a commercially available wireless phone extension.... Google here I come..
