@Dave.Sky.Q if you have the flat Sky hub then you do not have the hub being dicussed in this thread. Your's is the older er115 model. Whilst not being as good as the newer SR203 it is normally a considerable improvement on the SR102 you had before. If you haven't allready donecso I suggest you post in a new thread describing your issues as it is likely someone can help.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

Hello, I have just upgraded to sky q with the new broadband hub (large one). What I would like to know is if it is any better than my current TP-link VR2800.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

@Slick

Your account should have an activation date on it. Either in your open orders on the My Sky app or in the email Sky sent you. Either way you should be able to just connect the new hub whenever, it doesnt matter if its before or after your activation date

Just wished there would be an alternative to having to use the SR203 because I have a landline still (i have FTTP so the voice goes through the router)

@Aurynfire it is a pain but Openreach will not normally allow voice over copper once fibre is in use only exceptions seem to be where a customer has an alarm or call system which cannot use the VOIP and that will be time limited.

Nothing stopping you using a third party VOIP solution but that is not Sky Talk of course but the number can usually be ported but beware porting back seems fraught with issues..

@Aurynfire  If you have both a fttp and fttc line coming into the house then you could consider one of the Draytek models. You could feed both lines into the router and then split your services across the ethernet and wifi ports/channels using separate vlans. Or you could combine both internet lines. And they also have some voip models if you need that capability. They aren't cheap and depending on your network needs they may be overkill.

@CyberFriday certainly Sky would not sell a customer both services and I suspect that you would have issues buying a FTTC service for any address with FTTP connection as Openreach are stopping selling services over copper.
