@RobHL have to disagree the SR203 and SR204 works for the majority of customers including myself but not where customers like you have a large number of devices to be fair they are provided free and a third party router will cost around £100 and up.

There are literally dozens of modem routers for VDSL services  like Superfast but for Ultrafast I have not seen anything suitable as G.fast modems are rare things as simply it is technology that has not taken off. You could use any third party router in a double NAT setup with the SR204 connected to the line providing the landline - there is no modem mode on any Sky hub. That works for most set ups but you hit issues with certain business apps and some gaming set ups.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

ok so whats the solution. Should I disconnect some of the devices and reset the router?

Im sorry but if they are providing 100meg broadband but it falls down at 30 devices then it isnt fit for purprose.  People that will pay for that much broadband will be users that have lots of devices and users.

@RobHL I don't work for Sky so don't shoot the messenger. Simply yes you can reduce the number of devices my system seems perfectly ok with 20 or so.

A double NAT system might work for you as it does for many people. You have 2 issues with G.fast the shortage of third party kit and secondly the phone service requires the SR204 to work so simply swapping out the unit for a different modem if you can find one and using a third party router will mean you lose the landline which may or may not matter to you.

I understand your frustration but be aware your position whilst not that unusual is not a mainline requirement as yet.

@TimmyBGood and @jamesn123 have you any ideas?

@RobHL

Easy solution, get a cheap access point/router for £50-100 tops, plug this into the Sky router and then connect all your devices to it. Then switch off the WiFi radios on the Sky hub. This way you wont overload the router & you'll keep landline access and wont be double NATing

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

I actually have a switch connected to it that provides connection to access points round the house. 2 on ground floor and one on first floor and one in loft. Will that work if I so as you have said?

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

You will lose the mesh capabilities though - which is why most get sky q in the first place...sky should just sort out their product...free or not you are paying for a service that you aren't getting.

it's like buying a Vauxhall, the engine keeps cutting out and being told "well it came free with the car, go buy a better engine"

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub

Yes but it won't act as a WiFi repeater...so your coverage may degrade...

@RobHL

Yes that will work and yes your Sky Q will connect to any network, its just as @englishl1989 says you lose the hotspotting functionality.

@RobHL

Landline should be fine, dont change it.

In the Sky hub untick the following;

- Enable WiFi Access point

- Enable WPS

- Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)

- Synchronise 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz settings

You need to untick these options in both the 2.4ghz & 5ghz tabs

Yes, those settings switch off WiFi radio but leave ethernet connections active
