Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@Welshman49 True VOIP phones connect using an ethernet connection while normal phones use a different connecter you will find a true voip phone will not connect to the phone socket on the router. Although you have a VOIP service you should be able to use a standard phone as the router manages the interface for you.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
The gigaset phones definitely work with the Go box connected to the hub via the Ethernet port. Do you have a voip provider? I used these when I used Sipgate and found them reasonably good, but Sipgate was not that good, which is why I changed to Vonage - they are more transparent and it does mean that I can have separate phones.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both!

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@Chrisee Just thought i would let you know when I got home I took everything apart and started again. This time when the router came back on and all the lights where green. I tried all the phones and they are all working now. Don't know what the problem was but sometimes it's as easy as just switching things off and on again. Hopefully they all keep working. 🤞
Thank you for all the advice received here it definitely helps. 👍

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@ChriseeThought everything was ok but when i tried to make a call last night to check it was working ok. Every phone works but it is takeing around 40 seconds to connect to a number landline and mobile. This is no acceptable you just dont know if it is connecting. Tried it again today and its the same.
Do you have any idea why this is? Thought i would ask here first before phoning sky again.
Thanks in advance.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@Welshman49 suspect thst is because the way the call is routed as @tarbat said this is a trial and Openreach clearly are still working on it.
No idea if you can revert to a standard line you would have to ask Sky. In the longer term we all will be using a version of this system as copper cables are removed.

Not sure that it would be an Openreach issue. Surely if the telephone is connected to the built-in ATA in the Sky hub/router, then the infrastructure supporting voice calls over Sky Broadband will be managed and operated by Sky.
Although I might be wrong. It would help if Sky were to explain how there VOIP talk service is meant to operate.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@tarbat getting Sky to explain anthing is almost impossible but you are right it is could well be a Sky network issue.

Hi guys,
If you've been experiencing a delay when calls connect, no sound on outbound calls or, calls dropping after 30 mins or so, I've just been given a heads up that there has been an issue impacting some customers specifically with internet calls.
It was fixed in the early hours of this morning.
