@Barry+Mc+Kelvey  If you're using ethernet, then it should just be a simple sawp of router.

I ahve the old SKy Hub with Sky Q and 2 Mini boxes and Sky Buddy. If i get the new hub i assume all the products connected via wifi to the old routerwill need to all be re set up on the new router one by one?

If just connecting by ethernet.

Just disconnect and reconnect the sky q boxes ethenrt cables when you swap over the hubs.

 

If you connect via ethernet from the Sky Q main box to the hub it will connect as above. If you then remove the ethernet, it will setup the Sky Q main box wifi connection to your hub automatically (via that ethernet connection insertion) like magic without you having to do any WPS or manual wifi SSID/password.

I run my Sky Q boxes all on wifi, but that makes it easy to setup initially 🙂

 

You will notice your SSID change in your settings > network from the old hub to the new hub..

Also, if you care, your ethernet ip address on the main box and mini will probably change.

You will only need to reconnect your main Sky Q box to the new hub, via WPS. The mini as it connects to your main Sky Q box, will remain the same. You may just have to restart the minis.

For the Buddy app, all you need to do is go into settings and Remove your old hub and reconnect your new hub.

It will remember all your profiles and devices.

was speaking with someone in retentions and they told me that the wifi  guarantee only guarantees 3mb in every room regardless of speed package.

But what about things like Iphone, Ipads i assume they will need to be re connected as new name for hub and passwords?

Yes.

As well as the SSID name and password on the back of the hub, you get a card with those details on, so you can easily take that around your house making it easy to get them all up and running 🙂

With my current setup, I've given each Sky Q Box it's own IP Address in the Sky Router Settings. I know I'll have to set that up again.

Is it really worth getting the new hub, as i have over 40 devices connected to my Hub and it will take a lot of resetting all my devices that are connected?

Why not get the new hub, then change the wifi name and password to be the same as on your existing hub? Then you wouldn't have to change anything...

Not a good idea to do that.

The Sky Q mesh system can get muddled and other mesh type systems like speaker systems and the like will not connect correctly or will upset their mesh.

You will often have to just reset the device from scratch to get it working right, not really gaining anything.
