If I have sky q in living room but want one more box in a room is it a mini I would get and does it just work off WiFi

With SKY Q to watch on another TV yes you can get a mini box 

You need a multiroom subscription which is an ongoing monthly cost & a one off up front admin fee (although sometimes for a first box that may be waived depending on offers / negoatiations)

Mini boxes do not work by wifi alone (See SKY Glass for that - which is a dedicated TV and additional 'pucks')   but works via either wifi or ethernet to  connect to your SKY Q main box & gets all it's content through the main box 

mini boxes cannot play 4K/UHD material

I believe some people have managed to split the HDMI feed from the main box but this can be problematic depending on a range of factors
