Moving House - With Gap between move

Got a question related to Sky's free house move.

We are currently in a contract with Sky, we get Sky Superfast BB, TV package includes:
Kids, Cinema, SS, Ultimate On-Demand, Multi-Screen etc.

Our new house isn't going to be ready on completion of the sale of our current house so we're moving in with relatives for a month or two, perhaps longer. Would I have to cancel my contract and pay any early charges or would Sky hold the house move until we're ready? and keep the account on hold somehow.

Another query is we only want to actually move the TV aspect of our package and not our broadband services, as we will have a direct fibre line to our house and are going to use that seperately.

Has anybody else had any similar experiences or can offer any advice on what the process would be.

Thanks.

Hi @voasy

Suspect you are best getting this information by discussing direct with Sky.

@voasyDepending on how long before you move it may be cheaper to just keep paying your existing subscription and then when you get a date use Sky's home move service.

Remember if you do this keep the Q boxes and router safe in case anything goes wrong and you have to send them back.

Re: Moving House - With Gap between move

Yeah I was thinking this.

Potentially closing the BB contract and paying the early fee if i have to - that shouldn't be a lot. And still pay the TV fees for a few months and then just move it across.

That way I can keep my existing TV offers as well because they are very good.

Did you ever find a solution to this? We're in a similar boat and the person on the phone wasn't much help at all.

Thanks!

Re: Moving House - With Gap between move

It actually didn't end up being applicable, we're close to moving hopefully only a couple more weeks but didn't end up going for a new build with a gap in the middle.

So unfortunately I don't have the answer i'm afraid.

No worries, thanks. Think we've sorted it now, after finally speaking to someone who seemed to know what they were talking about.

Re: Moving House - With Gap between move

Hi,

We were told that the easiest option for us was to leave it registered at our current address then move it once we're in the new place. Apparently it won't affect the buyers if they get Sky and means we don't have to cancel. Was told the cheapest way to do it would be to strip our package right back to pay as little as possible in the interim but we're on an amazing friends and family deal so I'm going to take the hit and pay it for a couple of months so we don't lose all the savings on our extras.

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks very much for taking the time, it sounds like the best solution. Was it Sky that told you?

I suspect that's not true. I'd be very surprised if the new buyers can get Sky while another account is registered to that address! Sky will not allow two accounts to be registered to the same address which is how they prevent people having two main Q boxes.

Since Feb 2016 when Sky Q launched it was no longer possible to have two accounts registered at the same address. I remember some complaining on the forum from those that wanted Q but also wanted to keep their existing Sky+HD subscription.
