Re: Many problems with Sky glass
Last night I went to watch TV (which I only do maybe once or twice a week) and SKy Puck wouldn't work. Hard restart about 30 times and it would just switch off halfway through boot up. My first one also did this. So being replaced again (3rd time).
now Sky have made it even worse because their system has changed and you now have to be at home to hand over the old pick to the courier when they deliver the replacement. Before you put a label on the box that the replacement came in and then freepost the old one back to Sky. They won't deliver to any other address than your home. As a consequence I now have to take a day off work to be at home to accept delivery of the replacement Puck.
Sky have to be one of the worst customer service companies that I have even dealt with. Their poor CS people are really nice and I feel for them as just doing what their script says, but the product and support system is not fit for purpose. I wish I could just dump my Sky kit but I have no choice but to keep going as I got rid of my previous aerial and decoders when I installed the new Sky Glass system.
Today's rant endeth.

Re: Many problems with Sky glass
If you set up the sky puck correctly you don't really have a problem I haven't since I've had mine also there has been three software updates being pushed out to solve a lot of bugs
if you look back to when sky q came out with multiroom
it was worse than glass
also when you have bad weather you will still be able to watch your channels
Word of advice anything that's new just come out wait six months

Oh, so it's the user's fault is it?

Not worse. As bad.
also when you have bad weather you will still be able to watch your channels
And with Glass when you have a broadband outage...?
Word of advice anything that's new just come out wait six months
It's been 6 months since Glass launched. It's still riddled with problems. Give it a year at the very least.

The Freeview Play interface works a hell of a lot better than Glass. Oh, and it's free!

Re: Many problems with Sky glass
Far too many people are having issues with the TV and the Pucks. It is clear this is not the fault of the user, neither is it a broadband issue. Having suffered a multitude of issues I contacted the Sky exec team and they offered to release me from my contract. I have decided to persevere though, mainly because I had purchased my TV on a monthly basis and I cannot have a dish where I live. I've been with Sky for 20 plus years so I very much hope it will get sorted in time. To help me Sky offered a major discount on my broadband bill.
In the interim I would just say that the rather patronising comments from some people here, which sometimes read like planted endorsements for a clearly flawed product, are not welcome and probably do more harm than good. If you are having a great relationship with your Sky Glass that's great, many, many people are not and it's not their fault, so please stop with the unhelpful comments.

Re: Many problems with Sky glass
@Markj72 Completely agree. Q was rotten when it first came out, but now it's a mature product it is generally excellent....folks forget how bad Q was at the start. I was an early adopter of Q and it crashed every day until they got the software right and that box then lived on right up until the glass arrived.
my Glass hasn't been flawless by any means, but as an early adopter some issues are to be expected.
overall I'm delighted with Glass and the Puks, glass is on Ethernet and puk is on Wi-Fi, they work great 99% of the time and they seem to get better after each update.
I do understand some folks are feeling let down by Sky and their marketing for glass did oversell it , but if you can bear with it, I'm hopeful it will mature in the same way Q did.

Re: Many problems with Sky glass
Sky have been incredibly helpful and supportive. The problems are certainly resolving. Sky have replace all our PUKS and the new PUKS are excellent. Start up and run flawlessly 99% of the time. Very occasional reboot needed. Glass seems to have one reimagining issue, lip-sync is out, by just a couple of frames, most of the time. Changing channels and changing back immediately solves this for a short while and then it drifts out of sync again. Other than that, the updates and patches are resolving most things.
still mad that they didn't have an audio out apart from HDMI but other than that, thankfully, sky is getting there with Glass. As everyone says and we remember too, Sky Q was beyond appalling when it launched but in the end, it was very good.

Re: Many problems with Sky glass
Got sky glass as soon as it came out. Had loads of problems with picture freeze and having to keep resetting everything. Upgraded the sky router with the broadband and since then most problems have disappeared. Try upgrading broadband to the best you can and everything should be ok.

Re: Many problems with Sky glass
@Steveben1953 even though we had the fastest Internet connection our problems were not related to the connection speed

Re: Many problems with Sky glass
Hello everyone
been a while since I posted.
my glass is working ok now since I last posted, I think the various updates have corrected some of the issues. I think there has been quite a few version updates. I still have random sound issues and I had the issue with it turning itself off again and had to wait a while (10 mins I think) while it sorted itself out. Maybe sky are adddressing the issues because when I first posted the issues are not as bad. Still not perfect but improving. My version is qs005.08.1p I don't know if latest or not. Good luck everyone x
