Re: Many problems with Sky glass

That's very interesting that the lady with the 54in sky glass was able to return it and go back to her Sky Q as I was thinking I've done the strong thing but thought I'm stuck with it? Trouble is I've got rid of all the packaging and unsure if I would be able to set up the Q again?🙀

Re: Many problems with Sky glass

I'm having exactly the same issues snd BBC seems to be worse than other channels! I'm beginning to regret parting with my Sky Q

I'm with sky internet just basic but they are upgrading to a faster speed in April. I haven't connected the router to the tv direct just on WiFi......

but I think I would still prefer my Sky Q if they will let me aswotch back?

You seem to be the lucky ONE....Glass has been mis-sold and is being mis-advertised

Re: Many problems with Sky glass

Sky glass is definetly not fit for purpose.

Since purchasing a Sky Glass Tv and 2 picks in December 2021, I am unable to reliably watch anything.

my Sky glass pucks have been replaced twice and are still unreliable.

Sky customer service havw abdicatwd all responsibility and keep telling me that my problem is with my broadband.

BT have replaced my router, provider Extender to run Ethernet via ring main. I connect all devices via Ethernet.

Netflix speed checker on Sky device shows consistently above 32Mbs.
I can watch Netflix on the sky devices pretty reliably. BBC 1 is unreliable and just stalls. Ironically the worse channel that has never worked correctly is Sky Sports.

No one at Sky shows any interest.

I am unable to change back to regular TV easily because I removed by satellite dishes, threw out sky box and terrestrial aerial when I purchased Sky Glass on promise of what it could deliver.

worse purchasing decision by me ever!

Re: Many problems with Sky glass

Here is my tuppence worth to counter the negativity I see in this forum about Sky Glass

I bought my 55 inch Anthracite Glass TV outright in Week one of the release of the System.

I agree that there are a few issues and I have had a few niggles with the Playlist and Netflix but overall I am extremely happy with my change fro Sky Q.

I watch very little live TV spending most of my time streaming from the various outputs on Sky Glass or linking stuff currently blocked here in the UK (TV Channel RT.com) from my computer through the HDMI connection.

Maybe it is my age (65) but really I do not care if the black is not black enough or local dimming doesnt work well in the picture or if the sound doesnt have base working properly.

Just a personal observation here to note is that everyone's vision and hearing will differ so what suits my vision will not suit others as is the reverse, likewise on sound.

As long as my picture is clear eough for me to see and i can hear what is going on then I am very happy

I am not dimishing the posts by those that have had some difficulties but 6 months down the line, I still consider changing from Sky Q to Sky Glass one of the best decisions I made.

Note: I did not say upgrade from Sky Q to Sky Glass because it is not.....  Sky Glass is a Streaming Service whereas Sky Q is a Broadcast Recording Service and they are two very different platforms and should be treated as such.

Finally to say that Sky Glass is not fit for purpose is unfair because for some it is

To repeat my comments here reflect my personal experience

Re: Many problems with Sky glass

I totally agree I haven't had ours more than a few days snd I'm already fed up with it BBC is impossible to watch freezes every few minutes and the sound goes off ever night when I switch the bedroom tv in and the puck I have to dash down stairs and press my router for 3secs to re boot the upstairs puck!!!
I had little or no trouble with our Sky Q and I'm already missing it.....

thus has to be be the most miss sold product that Sky have ever produced.....

Re: Many problems with Sky glass

Obviously I agree regarding sound and picture preference etc. I'm 75 and the sound when it's working is perfect for me also the picture .

what most folk on here are. Onpkaining sbout is the constant picture freeze and sound freeze...

it's totally annoying that you have to keep switching channels to sort it.

Please remember that you can return Glass for a full refund within the first month.

It's a lot of money to pay for a service that is clearly not working for you. Sky do not have a good track record with fixing things quickly - it took over a year for Sky Q to become stable, so if you're not happy then I would recommend returning Glass sooner rather than later and reverting back to Q.

Re: Many problems with Sky glass

Advice please, itv hub, Netflix constantly fail since we had glass last month.

There is no on demand and many shows have dissapeared, if I want to watch something on series remind you cannot watch that day for many channels if you miss it- please advise I'm hating it

I'm afraid the easiest advice is to get rid of it.
One of the main caveats of Glass is that, as a streaming service, you are at the mercy of the content providers making their programmes available to stream as soon after broadcast as possible. This doesn't always happen quickly.
With a proper recording service like Sky Q, you the customer has more control, as you are the one who makes the physical recording or download onto the hard drive on your own Q box to watch when you choose.
Glass works for some people but not for others. It requires a fast and stable home broadband connection and can be made a bit more stable by connecting via ethernet instead of WiFi. But everyone's experience of it is different. Reliability for all customers is the key area where it is failing. Until Sky sort it out then the best advice is to get Sky Q instead.

There's no reason why they won't. Many people have done it.
You just need to cancel your Glass Ultimate TV package (which is on a 31 day rolling contract) & start a new Sky Q contract (usually 18 months). You'll continue to pay off the loan for the cost of the Glass TV (if you didn't pay for it outright) and pay for your new monthly Sky Q service. It's often cheaper to get Sky Q anyway as you're committing to a longer contract.
Give Sky a ring and see what they can do. Some people who were on Q then tried Glass and reverted back to Q ended up paying less than they were originally, so they're open to negotiation with those who have had problems with Glass.

Re: Many problems with Sky glass

We got sky glass for out grandmother 3 weeks ago and it worked for 2 days.....it's utterly the WORST ever.  It's her main source of company while all the family are working and it's keeps going off.  Works for 5mins then off, have had so so many phone calls to sky, who said it was the router so we paid more for the best one from them and no surprise it still doesn't work.  Now they're saying it's an issue with the line which is bt problem, bt have been out and say it's sky's problem.

In all honesty, just don't buy it, were literally throwing money down the drain paying for something that just doesn't work.  Furious doesn't even cover it.
