We have tried all of this - changed our DNS on Orbi mesh network - at a loss now! (Mid sky box set!!)

@VickyH831 Annoying that it's not working for you. I'm not so knowledgeable with Orbi routers, it's worth checking that the DNS is working properly on a device connected to the same network as the Sky device visit What Is My DNS Server? Check Your DNS Server Address (top10vpn.com) and push the button. After a few seconds it should tell you the DNS service you're routed through. It should say "CLOUDFLARENET - Cloudflare, Inc." if its working correctly (dont worry if the server address isn't 1.1.1.1 as other IPs are used to prevent overcrowding on one server - that you're showing Cloudfare is the important bit)
If it says Cloudfare then I'm not sure why it's not working for you - maybe try rebooting everything and resetting the network in the settings on the sky box.
If it doesn't say cloudfare then the configuration on your orbi isn't working properly and in turn the 'fix' isnt working for Sky/Three. You'd have to try different configurations (may depend if the Orbi is doing DCHP and static IP required on the Orbi router, or it's getting its IP from the 3 router doing the DCHP) Maybe check the Orbi forums to see if theres any tips on setting up.

@AntInBristol Just a quick question, is there anyway to turn the Wi-Fi off on the 3 hub and just use the HUAWEI router for Wi-Fi connections as nothing is connected to the 3 hub now
19 Nov 2022 09:29 PM
There is a setting on the ZTE router to turn off wifi on its configuration page, but i believe that the ZTE is pushing out Wifi6 which could be faster on any supported devices than the Huawei router's Wifi5 if you went for the WS5200 version. I'm using the AX3000 routers which have wifi6 so i am using those solely for the connections in my home and have the ZTE router with no wifi and set to not act as a DHCP server. The Huawei Routers handle all DHCP and give devices their IP addresses.
If you did want to just switch off the wifi on the ZTE on the main config page go to wifi settings and then set 'wifi switch' to disable. With how i believe you've set up the Huawei router the ZTE will continue to be the DHCP server and dish out the IP addresses etc but the Huawei router will be the access point you're using. This should all work fine still.
I'm not any kind of network expert, i just kind of work it all out as i go along, so apologies if anything i say is wrong haha!

@VickyH831 I have the orbi mesh system too. I've changed the dns to 1.1.1.1 and my glass is now working fine, I had to try it a few times though as it didn't work straight away. Which orbi router are you using ?and I'll try help you with it.

@VickyH831 I've just looked at my settings and taken screenshot of them. Hopefully they will be of some help, I've got the orbi rbr750 with 2 satellites.
I'm assuming you've logged into the orbi Web page. This is what mine looks like, under basic, Internet, change the primary dns to 1.1.1.1 leave the secondary empty.
then remember to hit apply.
Under the advanced tab select make sure it's running in router mode and click apply again.
Then turn the three router off and unplug the ethernet cable from the orbi and turn the orbi any any satellites off. Turn on the three router but don't reconnect the ethernet to the orbi yet.
I did a full re-setup of my orbi using the app. Just follow all the instructions as the app tells you.
The app should recognise the router as being set up before so you won't lose and previous settings. This is how I did mine and its been working for over a week now🙂

@AntInBristol That's what I usually do just mess around untill I figure it out
is there any benefit to switching the zte Wi-Fi off IE will it provide a faster speed to the HUAWEI router?
I've moved everything on my network over to the HUAWEI router already anyway as it provides a better signal in my home.
there's nothing connected to the zte router at all was thinking if the Wi-Fi was off it may give a better output to HUAWEI router
cheerws for your help

@Rpjm yeah mess with it till it works , or it breaks 😂 Then get angry and attack it - but in the case of the Sky remote not working this violence turned into a fix for so many others 🤣Sometimes violence is the answer (for tech only!)
Aaaanyway, it won't speed the Huawei router up directly. But with the ZTE not giving off any WiFi it frees up a few more bands that aren't in use and could help with WiFi congestion. I'm not sure you'd see much difference though.
Good to know that as well as fixing the Sky / Three issues you're also getting better coverage from the router. £15 well spent!

Has anyone actually had an update from sky
22 Nov 2022 07:17 PM
I had a brief exchange on twitter 2 weeks ago (before the DNS solution was found) and they said it was a known issue that was being worked on and then I've had no replies since. I haven't chased them since though.
23 Nov 2022 09:17 AM
I've heard nothing from either three or sky, there is a woman from three that I've been emailing about it but not had any update for over a week now, last thing I heard was do I want my case closed due to it being solved by changing the dns, I said no because its not a solution for everyone, it's just a temp fix for a few people.
I spoke to sky last week and told them about the dns change working which they said they would pass onto the people looking into it.
One thing for sure is there will have to be some serious compensation paid out once its fixed regardless of who's at fault
28 Nov 2022 07:08 PM
So all replies on this issue seem to be going quiet on here and on the three forums. To say it's supposed to be being treated as urgent you'd have thought sky or three would have found the fault and put it right by now after a month of investigations. I think its time now that we started asking about what compensation is going to be offered for our inconvenience. I get that no one knows who's at fault so they don't know who's responsibility it is to offer compensation but surely one of these big companies should be saying as a good will gesture we will offer half price broadband (three) or a reduction in the tv subscription (sky) or maybe both companies should offer compensation until its sorted 🤔

So I have had to cancel everything with them due to them saying it's never gonna work because the 3 internet don't work with sky at all with sky glass to even trying addding q box that didn't work also there saying the 3 internet and the 5g are to slow connecting with the sky so basically u have to have sky internet for it to work so just told them cancel it all they would only give me from when it got logged so lost a lot money basically paying for something I never received which was all sky channels but we still have the mistory that I could still watch netflix and all app channels on sky glass , but anything to do with sky related u couldn't crazy
28 Nov 2022 10:06 PM
That sucks @Steph1002 - especially when what they're telling you is a load of bull. Speed has nothing to do with it. Something somewhere is being blocked at a server level. Maybe it's at Sky, maybe it's at Three, maybe Sky think it's not worth their while investigating / fixing...
I've been asking Sky on twitter about any updates earlier (and registering my frustrations at all the remote and CEC issues too). If i get any meaningful replies i'll update on here.
