Based on what you have written, it sort of implies if you pay for a Premium ITVX then you will get premium service from the app & those who have the "basic" app suffer as a result of Premium upgrades.
is this ITV as a 3rd party provider giving subscribers the best service regardless of what model of TV you have? Not impressed if that is how I understand it.
As others have hinted ITV and Sky should try and create a more customer friendly alliance so those who enjoy ITV programmes can watch them without issues. I love my Sky Glass and use of all the apps, including All4.

No not really, at launch ITVX did not work correctly for premium for months, so we were paying and not receiving a good service. That's when I switched to Apple TV.
ITV or Sky are not pushing for premium to receive a decent experience it just happens that fixing the premium app broke the basic.
Pretty sure the basic itvx will be fixed but who knows when 🤔

We too experience irritating problems with ITV X crashing out of programmes just prior to a commercial break. Reading responses to the original post it would appear that upgrading to Premium removes the commercial breaks and subsequently removes the trigger for the crashes?

My problem is that I already have several streaming services and do not intend to add anymore therefore upgrading to premium is not an option for me.

I am now being thrown out of itv x at every advert, on every program I watch. Very annoying!

We too are having this issue with ITV X simply drops out ( crashes ) just before ad break and doesn't go back in. I noticed last night that the linkage to watch another episode ( Redemption) didn't work either.
it's an ITV issue perhaps, but we didn't buy the service from ITV did we? Please contact and rectify the issue for us Sky 👍

Hi
I contacted ITVX and they advised to clear the cache: Clearing the cache and a power cycle can be done as below:
- Firstly, you would need to open the ITVX app.
- You will then be presented with the home screen where you would need to input the code: 0,0,0,0,7,7,7 with your TV remote.
- This will Restart the app.
- Please power of the TV from the mains for 10s then back on.
I really didn't expect it to work, but it did! No issued since.
Hope this helps.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@JulesSky1 Thanks again. I have just done as you suggested and it confirmed that I had cleared the cache. I will see what difference it makes over the next couple of days.
Update - ITVX hasn't crashed at the adverts yet and for the very first time an ITVX programme I have started has appeared im my continue watching rail.🤞

I asked this question months ago about clearing the cache, it was more to do with Netflix at the time when it would not open, that issue went on for weeks if you recall.
I suggested then that it needed clearing but was told otherwise as these apps are not apps.
If indeed a cache cleanup is the answer then and in this instance just look at the pain and frustration Sky could have cleared up by pointing users in the right direction.
Another reason I left as "we are looking into it" is not an answer.
I truly hope this is a solution for you.

Right, I have just tried this, so I will give it a couple of days to see if it works!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Anonymous Since doing the cache clearance as suggested by @JulesSky1 I have watched a couple of programmes on ITVX and have had no problems with it crashing at the adverts.
As I already mentioned things from ITVX are now appearing in my CW rail but only when selected from my playlist but not when selected from the App.
Sky is still not picking up all the episodes or series when adding things to the playlist. For example Vera has 12 series but when additn it to the playlist I only got access to S9:E4 and S10:E1,2 &3. SO that's only 4 episodes from 12 series 🤔
In conclusion there has been a definite improvement since clearing the cache and I suspect the remaining issues lie at the Sky end not ITVX.
Mind you the app is still painfully slow to load and FF. ALso it does not have any progress indicator so you dont know which episodes you have watched.

Well, I have done it and now I can't fast forward at all!!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@GMHarper That's doesn't sound good however I can't see that clearing a cache would cause it. Try rebooting your system again (switch off at the wall socket for 30 seconds before turning it on again). If that doesn't work try re-pairing your remote again.

Success, things seem to have settled down and are working correctly (so far).
Fingers crossed for the future.
