Hi,
ive had an engineer out yesterday due to an ongoing issue over the last week. when my son plays online games on his PS5 he gets connected into an online game but is then kicked out due to "network connection lost" error message this happens every single time bar none - ive been on with Playstation, no issues at their end.
it was the sky engineer who told me about a potential IPv6 security issue - im not sure what the issue is, i just need it fixed,
has anyone had a similar issue ? - any assistance is massivley appreciated.

Is ps5 in a different room to the router ? If so seperating wifi bands and then allocating ps5 to 2.4ghz may work
- Log onto router and go to wifi
- Go to 5ghz band and untick synchronise 2.4ghz and 5ghz
- Go to 5ghz ssid and add -5g at the end
- Save
- Go to individual devices and assign wifi band accordingly
The old ssid id is now 2.4
Ultimately its desirable to connect consoles with ethernet . The use of wifi powerline adapters will route the packets via the electric wiring where the house itself is on the same mains circuit

@cookiemonsteruk - thanks for the reply and i may give that a try however i forgot to mention that the device's ( i have 2 PS5's with the same issue ) are hardwired. 1 directly to the router and the other is through a TP Link.
genuinley pulling my hair out about this,!! - thanks again for your suggestion.

One thing you can try if the router hasn't been rebooted for some time and left off for more than about an hour is to do so to obtain a new public IP address.
Also, with the message you are getting on PS5, it is almost like it's reporting communication issues with the router itself, and if you have not replaced the ethernet cable(s) that would be worth doing as well with ones meeting CAT5 standard or higher.

@mae-3 when the engineer came out, thats what he advised left it off for " 3 cycles" - not sure what that means but i done it. point noted on the ethernet cables however i am a little bit sceptical as i dont see all the ethernets goig on the blink at the same time.
thanks

In your case, a post of the router support recent activity log may also be useful as that would confirm ethernet issues in the log at the time of the issue or not as the case may be! The log can be obtained by logging into the router at HTTP://192.168.0.1 and selecting the Support Tab at the top of the page, copy-paste into a post the support recent activity log from the box.

@mae-3 log below not sure what any of it means though... checked on the ps5 and the issue was still happening but theres no mention of it in the log - should that appear in the log ? - @cookiemonsteruk tried your solution to no avail.

The log looks okay with the limited information on the period it is covering.
For the PS5 is it multiplayer games you are having an issue with and do you have manual port forwarding to the PS5 setup or just rely upon automatic UPnP to do that task, eg: you've done nothing to set up the router manually for PS5?
12 May 2021 04:23 PM
yes its only multiplayer games its effecting - Fortnite, Fifa, COD. im having a look at "port forwarding" now but dont have a clue in what im doing if im honest - i can log into my router etc but get lost after that. looking at step by step guides but the dteps dont match what i see on my 4.2 router. ... any help appreciated on that front 🙂
12 May 2021 04:46 PM
I don't really wish you to do any manual port forwarding only to confirm UPnP is operational and the NAT type reported on the PS5? And then we'll take it from that point forward.
12 May 2021 04:47 PM
in that case, yes to both UPNP is operational and on NAT type 2

Do you usually play games, and I think I'm correct in saying this, play games on both PS5 at the same time or at different times? If you play games at the same time then I'd like you to use just 1 console and unplug the other from the mains power and let me know whether that still has an issue with it, and the error message and code, please if it fails?
If that works then I'd like to know when you start the other PS5 console up does it kick you out of the first console?
12 May 2021 04:58 PM
no there isn't ususally any crossover in terms of play time - they have run concurrently at times though such as holiday periods - they have been in place since christmas day. this has never been an issue before.
12 May 2021 05:05 PM
So, this issue is only recently, and how recent and it did work at some point? I still like that test done as I'm trying to ascertain why you are being kicked out of games and whether both console or only 1 is involved, and exploring whether UPnP is operating correctly? And if the console is even plugged into the powered off but not unplugged it's still in the equation.
12 May 2021 05:21 PM
issue started last tuesday to be specific roughly 6/7pm - both consoles where affected just at seperate times - i believe UPnP is working correctly.
i was informed by a sky engineer that there was a known IPv6 issue around security that he was aware of and had a work around for that - but it didnt work.
issue seems to be more persistant in Fortnite than in Fifa at this point in time as he can generally play fifa with a few disconections every so often - however in fortnite its every single game hes kicked out of.
sorry to go off track alittle but hopefuly this info is uesful
