I have finally managed to activate the free 12 months on Discovery+ this afternoon. For a couple of days I have been following confusing and contradictory links and instructions online from Discovery+ and Sky. The links just sent me round in circles or led nowhere. Opening the Discovery+ app on the TV for about the 10th time this afternoon opened a completely new screen and instructions that at last offered a QR code to scan.
If someone wanted a masterclass in how to make a procedure as confusing and hard as possible this has got to be it.

As @whydoihavesky mentioned, there's nothing special about the QR: it's just the URL https://www.sky.com/discoveryplusactivate encoded in an image. The vanishing 6-digit code generated by the app is more important.

And therein lay some of the frustrations. The link only led to a site that said the service was unavailable and the QR only appeared via the Discovery+ app after two days of opening it.

You need the discovery+ app mine didn't show up had to update software then app was there then just signed up and sorted 👍😎

I've just updated the software but I've still not got the app on sky Q its frustrating

The app has just came up on my box and I've signed in to it now so thanks you everyone who has messaged giving me advice thank you 🙂

Once software updated go to settings press 001 select on secret menu go to apps and click refresh apps that should sort it
