Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

@joemit  Yes exactly that. Not ideal, but if you mute it before hand then squint a bit you can get through without a spoiler. Agreed, shows it's "fixable" at least

The first person I spoke to on the phone said it was a rights issue and you could only watch live. Obviously I questioned her on that and said is that a change from last season then, and that Sky only show live races now or you have to wait up to 48 hours to watch it on catch-up? "Yes" was her reply to which I said then it's a useless service and drastically different from the service as sold back in October etc. asked her to send me to cancellations, who then had "tech" speak to me who came up with that method to get "watch from start" back, but were flummoxed by the missing playlist items.

The quest continues!

@DBKS A good bit of investigative jouranlism there.

I think it helps to demonstrate that, a) the tech person knew it was an issue and already had a workaround, and b) customer services continue to just wing it and say anything which seems to work at the time and gets you off the phone because TBF, they just don't know...

But we shouldn't have to threaten to cancel to get something done, this does Sky, and its reputation, no good at all!

Out of interest, @joemit, are you a new Glass customer, or did you previously watch F1 on Glass last season?

I'm trying to work out any triggers that could cause this technically. I had Sky Sports on Glass last season, but cancelled Sports after the last race and reinstated it a couple of weeks ago. I'm wondering if that has put me in some sort of limbo

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

@DBKS I am more or less exactly in your situation, I got Glass last year with 2 or 3 races to go, then cancelled at the end of the 2021 season as I only really watch F1.

I then re-subscribed recently.

It's hard to recall exactly how F1 on Glass worked last year but I have a gut feeling it was better.

I just had a feeling because of all the on-going issues with Glass that it was likely to have an impact on F1 coverage which is why I decided, like many others, to start taking Sky to task about it before the new season started. Unfortunately most of my fears were well founded, as is evidenced by the may complaints on this forum.

I had Glass last October no issues with F1. I kept the sports package over the winter and am now having the same issues as everyone else.

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

@DBKS thank you.

I'm watching live today, as it happens, but I got Sky Glass in December (I can't have a dish) after years of Now TV,  especially so that I will be able to 'watch from start' if I get home mid race, and I was also attracted by the multiscreen features.

I couldn't access either of these today and, since these were the specific things I asked about at purchase (in the sky store in Westfield) I was definitely ready to write a rant to sky about having been missold.

Since I read your post and followed the advice, I can. I mean it's utterly ridiculous, but at least it works.

I also had to pause just before the end of qualifying yesterday to take a call. The pause gave up before I finished my call (after about 40 minutes) and I was unable to find qualifying in my playlist for the rest of the day. Not very acceptable.

I've paid a lot for Sky Glass over what I had before (freeview and Now TV/netflix). I did it mostly for the F1. I have high expectations, I hope I'm not going to be constantly disappointed.

Again, thanks for your help.

Well that is very interesting and good to know!

So, potetntailly, Sky has manged to spend months making a working system worse!

No option to watch the race from the start today but other than watching live then pressing when watch from start comes up. Awful customer experience for sport.

Can't be difficult to make this an option without going on to the channel. Just basic stuff they are getting so wrong.

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

Yeah no problems at all last season, one of the reasons going for Glass over Now TV was because of the delays in the on demand availability, and Sky Glass did that we'll in 2021.

Noticed the F1 is now split into two seperate shows now, and the feature race wasnt available when I got home at 13.20 ☹️ argh!

UHD been fine on the Sky Glass TV - very washed out on the puck, turned the brightness way down on the LG TV and it sorted it.

The F2 is split into two shows, not the F1

It appears Glass has a 'pause' capacity of around 46 minutes after which the local on-chip storage is presumably exhausted (with no hard drive to write to).

That is also good to know, thank you for the heads up!

It's now saying I can watch from start on the race.

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

So I've gathered.

Thanks.

Annoying, since if 'watch from start' isn't working (this seems a frequent issue!) and you're out of the room or on a call for an hour, making sure you're on the channel and pausing it as a programme starts, isn't a workable alternative.

So many frustrations!

I do wish they would just fox it so it does what they say it does. Every time.
