This would appear to make my mind up too. Recordings is the main way we watch TV with the occasional download thrown in or used as a backup if a recording gets missed. All this needed to be was the same recording type system, but cloud based.

Will save my money and buy a used Sky +HD box as a backup for when mine packs in.

This would explain why they need their own hardware as they would need access to the root OS on a smart TV etc... so they can launch in and out of other 3rd party apps

This service seems like a slightly better Sky Go with 3rd party apps chucked in (not very well intergrated by all reports) to bolster the amount of content available

I'd love to be wong here

Re: How does the playlist work?

@Essex+Guy  You can still start watching at 19:10. You would just access the content from the TV guide and select to watch from start. You wouldn't even need to put it in the playlist to do this.

Have you tried this with a BBC or ITV programme?

Got to say im a tad worried about the playlist now.

We tend to watch TV a little bit behind time, sometimes 5-10 mins or so. Eg currently on Sky Q - Emmerdale starts recording at 19:00. We then start watching the recording at 19:10.

Am I right in thinking of now have to wait until the show is on catchup (after 19:30)  before I can start playing it back?

That's my belief from what other already with Glass are saying 😞 It may be different with skys own content

It would be interesting if someone could test this on a Sky channel, say you switch to a Sky sports channel showing a live event that is currently underway and will not be available in catch up till after the event. Can you add it to your playlist and if you can and look at the playlist entry (assuming you can see it there whilst the event is being broadcast), can you after a few mins play back that content and does it start from where you added it or from the beginning of the live event? It may be that only channels who Sky have agreements in place with support the 'recording' functionality and those that don't link into the OD/catch-up catalogue..It could also be they u the Oad/catch-up content in preference to recording to save on storage and keep rights holders happy with unskippable ads...As I mentioned on another thread YouTube TV used to do that but after complaints now give users the choice of either viewing the cloud DVR recording (with as skipping) or the shorter OD showing where you can't skip the ads...

I'm hoping people are seeing some kind of huge bug with the playlist as this does not sound anything like how it was explained to us, but I'm fearing the worst 😞

Re: How does the playlist work?

@Annie+UK I know right the more I read it sounds like sky go / nowtv only being able to pause 25mins like nowtv and being able to only have 6 pucks sounds like the device limit on sky go to me 😂

Re: How does the playlist work?

@Annie+UK I was thinking the same, it might be a feature that needs a bit more work so Sky could have disabled it or perhaps it was not ready for launch in the first place... This whole thing is crazy though, lots of articles mentioning 1000 hours and Cloud recording etc and here we are after the launch where nobody seems to know how this feature works or is supposed to work, Sky should have explained all this clearly to potential buyers so they had all the facts before making a purchase...

Re: How does the playlist work?

Googling now I can't find any Sky references to 1000 hours, if it was there before (I thought it was too!) then perhaps they have pulled this feature for now for some reason, hopefully to return a a later point...

Re: How does the playlist work?

@sceptic101 like I said earlier the only thing I can find now is 'add it to your endless playlist' so look like its completely messed up

I can confirm 100% that 1000 Hour cloud recording was being reported in mutiple places, I have also read in at least one place that unlimited cloud was for Sky Broadband customers
