I was taken in by the adverts on sky to see a dedicated channel for the British Lions tour to s Africa with sky .I just clicked on the tv to include that package. Now i find I'm commited to an £18/month contract for 18 months!! !!!.This very deceitful of sky as it wasn't made abundantly clear that I would have to pay sky sports until2023! . I would have to pay £50 penalty to end thesky sports subscription ! Why?
.I have had a subscription with sky for various subscription since they started !20 + years!...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Cymru28Llloegr23 I'm fairly sure the adverts would have had that it was a new 18 month contract.
I'm not sure how you think you have been hoodwinked as throughout the sign up process it woul have been made clear what you were signing up to & for how long.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Cymru28Llloegr23 as with all adverts you must read the terms and conditions. It would have been made abundantly clear there what you were signing up to. As always, 'caveat emptor' applies - buyer beware.

I don't believe there's any 'maybe' about it. By their nature adverts highlight what will sell a product, but obviously that's not the whole story.
Superusers with the ability to escalate posts use their own discretion on when it's appropriate. No prompting required..

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@TechmanagerMal Customers when signing up to anything need to read what they are signing up for, this is basic common sense.
I disagree that sky may release them from a contract they freely signed up to. Why should they?

- I was about to open a thread on that very subject as it's difficult to know when it is appropriate especially if I commit a lot of time to a post then it gets escalated?
- Then I reconsidered thinking "it's above my paygrade"!
I'm afraid as a non superuser that is the way of the forum, we can provide advise & assistance, however if someone with the relevent permissions then escalates the post it is their judgement call and not a reflection on what answers we have provided.
I would just continue to post your responses to help the customer, if their post gets escalated then good for the customer.

If that's for the full 'Sports' channel bundle then it's a heavily discounted rate, which would explain the minimum contract term length.

- Empathy my friend?
- Nothing ventured and a plea of ignorance sometimes finds a listening ear.
And where do Sky draw the line? Do it for one customer they should do it for all.
If one customer then gets it, another will expect the same.
